Advantages: Hygienic and easy to use, lasts the week it says it will
Disadvantages: Doesn't clean or foam well, no smell to it
I haven't really had much luck with these myself, when strangely reading what others have said, they have.
Quite an interesting product design really, I myself don't mind a cage on the toilet, as it's rinsed off anyway during a flush and if it isn't, I just wipe it off like you would when cleaning the rim.
But I got suckered in by this new gadgety thing, I'm like that. New weird things I buy.
I first saw these on TV one day, thought I'd try them as I've used Duck for quite a while and know that their rimblocks usually really give a nice smell off into the toilet.
Got to the shop, and picked them up for around £2. For 6 weeks, that's good going.
Packaging is quite colourful, with the usual Duck in the corner. It's not one of those plasticy things.
Got home and first stop, the upstairs toilet. I took the tubes out, one is blue with holes in that you insert the clear one into. Assembled them easily and decided on an area to place a disc.
I chose my normal spot where rimblocks work well, it went on easily with the push and pull movement and left a little green patterned disc in the bowl. Flushed, I wasn't impressed, not only did it not really smell much, it didn't foam the water up much either. I thought I'd let it run it's course and see how it goes.
Next was the downstairs toilet, this time I picked a different spot, again the same thing happened.
After about a week, both were about gone so at least they lasted the time they said, but still I hadn't had much results.
I used all the discs, I even tried one in the most powerful flush bit of my toilet, still it slowly dissolved doing nothing. Probably my water here.
Overall, if you're that concerned over germs in the rimblock cage these are worth a try after reading the other reviews but I myself am sticking to a good old plastic cage with the solid thing in and a blue block in the cistern. (I have very hard water here)
Summary: A clever idea, that if it worked well, I'd happily buy again. But for now, nope.
