I have had a number of these Triton power showers over this last seven years or so. Being a composite unit combining the booster pump and controls, they are easy to install even for the keen DIY enthusiast. Effective in use, giving a decent flow of water at a controlled temperature, so no complaints there but beware!!!
Why beware you may ask! If I am being kind in my assessment of this shower unit I would say it is suitable only for light duty. When it was first installed there were five of us each using the shower at least once a day which resulted in the Triton lasting just over 2 years. At that stage it was completely knackered the motor having been run into the ground. I wasn't too impressed with it at this time but that was to prove the best of the bunch. It was to prove to be all down hill from there!!!
Why did I persist? Well mainly because I have plumbed and wired to suit this particular model and make. And, this might sound crazy, I have replaced it every year, in fact it has only one lasted longer than the one year warranty period. Average lifespan has been about nine months.
It hasn't even been one common fault; with a couple it's been pump failure and others it's been the solenoid valve. The Result being that there has been little or no flow coming from the showerhead or it's been constant flow even when turned off; not good for the hot water supplies.
I have one at the moment purchased September last year; what's that seven months and the valve is stuck wide open, I could shower without having to turn it on!!! Going back to my last supplier for replacement or refund. But, what the heel I might as well fit the same model yet again, I'm an expert, I can replaced this in about 20 minutes flat. Every time I get a new one Triton send me an application for 3 year extended warranty. Chance would be a fine thing! Could they make one to last three years?
