Advantages: Very good.
Disadvantages: none but the cost.
I am doing this review on the Triton shower T80i, which sounds a bit like a terminator film. I have one of these, and have used it for quite a few years now so feel well qualified to write a review.
As for the age of mine, it must be at least ten years old, so It has stood the test of time.
The Triton company has a very good name in the shower industry, and this shower can be fitted slightly off the wall, so you can easily tile behind it.
My model is a power shower, however, in non power mode, it seems as good as any other shower. The thermostat keeps the temperature just right, you just select the temperature you require, and the shower is easy to keep clean.
I have heard these showers can be noisy, but not in my case, the only place there is any noise is in the shower itself, and you are only in there for short time.
I got mine because a good friend of mine had bought it, but for some reason never got round to fitting it, then luckily for me, he moved house - to one containing a bathroom with a perfectly good power shower so I had to take it off his hands of course!
The colour of the fitting on the wall is white, as was the handset - However, this is where I had my only problem I have ever had with it. One day, while enjoying a good blast of hot water - the handset exploded, a giant split appeared in the plastic, squirting a solid jet of very hot water onto the wall, luckily away from me. I assume the water was a little hotter than normal, and the plastic handset just could not cope. I replaced this & decided to go for a chrome version, more for a change really. It's a standard fitting, so you don't need to order a special very expensive one from Triton. The shower is so powerful, it actually penetrates the shower curtain!
The flex, which is chrome covered by plastic, is still up to the job after ten years, although I may replace soon, mainly because it has been stained red from hair dye.!
The only other job I have done, was to replace the upstand that the handset fits to, this consists of 2 plastic fittings, with a length of chrome tube between them. The original seemed to be far too short for my liking, and seeing as I just happened to have a decent length of chrome pipe in the garage, it was a shame not to use it. The original one was less a foot long, but now is over twice the length, which is a little more user friendly, and it looks more professional somehow.
These are available from all good DIY stores. They are British too, made in the West Midlands. You can also order direct, using their website - www.tritonshowers.co.uk.
