Advantages: energy saving - it glows in the dark!
Disadvantages: demolishes dreams
I really thought I was going to do it this time. For years people have walked into my house and said things like 'well, it's not what I would have personally but it's VERY YOU!' When we decided to refit our kitchen, I dreamt of having a lovely, muted, co-ordinated mature room. One 1l tub of Unibond Colourline Grout in Fired Terracotta has put paid to that idea. I've spent the last 24hrs running into the kitchen and screaming ' it's bright orange!' That's an improvement on my initial reaction of 'it's **** luminous!' Don't get me wrong, I think I'll grow to love it, but it just doesn't tie in with the sophisticated image I had in mind. We've used mosaic tiles in muted greens as our splashback you see and I thought it would look more natural and effective if we used terracotta instead of bright white grout. Certainly more effective - natural though?! Well, personality will out, so they say, back to those comments from friends then! Seriously, Unibond Colourline is great. Although it was quite expensive (approx. £14) it goes for miles, it says 8 square metres on the tub but ours went much further. There is a superb range of colours (not all as bright as the terracotta!) and it is waterproof and mould resistant. It also has the bonus - depending on how you look at it, of a ten-year guarantee. If you want something a bit different, try this. P.S. Just had another look and it seems to be toning down slightly, either that or I'm getting used to it!

- 22/08/00 Orange is a very mystical colour. If you rub it things happen, at least that is what Yuri Geller says. Try it when the hubmeister and child/ren are sharing the 'difficult years' book you reviewed earlier. |
