VANISH CARPET AND UPHOLSTERY MOUSSE

I felt that I should write a review for this product, because I feel it may have saved mine and my daugher's life and I am indebited to it!!!

***What can it do?***

We moved into a new house before Christmas and it has beige carpets - everywhere. I felt quite daunted at first but realised that it could actually improve my cleaning routine. We have a golden labrador and in my old house with blue carpets, I could have followed her around with a hoover all day and it would still have looked a mess. Beige carpets, problem solved, now I could hoover like normal people. I felt smug until...

My daughter had been doing her homework and as they were getting ready for bed, I noticed she hadn't tidied her pencil case away. I picked it up and noticed blue spots on the carpet and sofa - oh, no, a blue ink cartridge had leaked out.

I may have started hyperventilating - it is all a bit hazy now! I ran to the kitchen, grabbed a clean cloth and the vanish and set to work. I shook the can and spayed it directly onto the stain. It comes out like white shaving foam and carefully rubbed the foam into the stain. Meanwhile my daughter got a bowl of water, so that I could dampen the cloth and attempt to rinse the area.

The foam works into the carpet and at first it appeared to just be a white and blue mess, but gradually the foam appeared to dissipate and magically the ink began to weaken and disappear. I repeated the process once more and the area now just looked a bit damp and roughed up.

I have to say that studying the instructions afterwards, I realise that I did not follow the instructions to the letter. You are supposed to hold the can 80 away, but as it was a tiny area, if I had done this it would have gone all over. You are supposed to leave it for 2 hours and then vacuum once dry. I waited until the morning to do this.

In the morning I came down and there was no sign of the ink. I hoovered and magically it looked like nothing had happened. I didn't have as much success on the sofa - there were still slight marks, but as it is a blue sofa and is quite old, I could live with this. My main concern was the expensive carpet - I just couldn't have hidden it.

It lasts ages, I have had it in the cupboard for the best part of a year and use if for all kinds of spills.

Just to say that at first when you spray it, it looks horrendous, like you have made it worse. As you work it in and then leave it, the appearance quickly improves.

You have to be careful not to work the area too much, as you can mess up the pile of the carpet. You have to trust it will work and let it get on with the job by itself.

Needless to say, my daughter will now no longer bring her pencil case into the living room and will be more careful in future. Nobody but us two, ever knew that we nearly had a beige blue spotted carpet!!

I will give it 5 out of 5, because even though my sofa wasn't perfect, the carpet more than made up for it!!!

Even though I was rushing I still wore gloves.

By the way I think I may have been a tad dramatic at the start!

I bought mine ages ago, so I don't know what I paid, but I think it is around £4.50 from most major supermarkets - but it does last a very long time!! It did afterall save me from having to sort out a new carpet.

Summary: Worth it's weight in gold!!!
