Advantages: Works fantastically well even at low temperatures

Disadvantages: It could be cheaper?

Vanish Oxi-Action Stain Remover is a brand name stain remover. You will probably have seen the adverts on TV, where all the emphasis is on pink - the slogan goes "Trust Pink" and there are various ladies dressed in pink, etc etc, lol.

Well I can safely say, yes you can trust pink! We are a family of four here , and we wouldn't be without Vanish.

It comes in various sizes, 500g , 1 kg or 1.5 kg, and the medium sized tub sells at anywhere between £4.00 if you are lucky enough to find it in the discount stores, to around £7.00 in the supermarkets. Often though, there are 'special offer' tubs with a percentage extra free, and occasionally this will be 100% extra free - this is when I stock up, effectively getting it for half price.

The container is a plastic, screw-top tub, in - you guessed it - hot pink! 'Vanish' is emblazoned on the side, and the colour is so bright that you cannot possibly miss it on the shelves.

Inside you get a little scoop, which is just the precise amount that you add to one load of washing - although of course you are free to raise or lower this amount. The scoop looks like it holds around a generous tablespoon-ful.

Vanish Stain Remover is designed to be used alongside your normal detergent and it can be put in the drawer with the powder, or in the plastic ball that goes inside the drum - it really doesn't matter.

Does it work? Basically, I have never known it to fail. It has removed stains that I thought were permanent, no problem, even on low temperatures.

It is suitable for coloureds and whites, although a seperate type is available for whites, which is supposed to brighten them at the same time.

And it smells lovely too - like old-fashioned washing powder, which I love.

As well as adding it to the main wash , you can also use it as a soak when dissolved in a bowl ful of water, or as a concentrated paste: The instructions are all on the tub, and are simple to read and easy to follow.

It doesn't leave 'bleach' marks and is actually quite kind to skin, to say it's a detergent : We are all a bit sensitive here, and use non-bio powder, and yet we use Vanish with no problems.

It is also available in a liquid, and the traditional rubbing stick version too, but I like the powder best.

Overall, I really recommend this product, it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Summary: A great laundry/cleaning product, suits most people

Great product but just don't get too much of it on your hands - i spilt a load a few weeks back and my hands came out in wonderful little blisters! Serves me right for not being careful.
