When we got married and moved into our new house, our first grocery shop was astronomical, we literally needed all the basics, one of them being this Vanish Stain Remover Pre-wash Bar, which my Mum had always used and raved about.

This vanish bar is available in most supermarkets, and it costs just under £2 for a 75g bar. The packaging is the usual bright pink that nearly all vanish products come in. On the reverse of the box vanish claims that this product is an 'effective and versatile way to remove stains from most fabrics'. It also states that is 'specially formulated' to be effective on stains that can' be removed with normal detergents. This vanish product also contains no bleach or abrasives, so is gentle on clothes.

Directions for use are on the back of the packaging, and there are two main options for applying it. I have only every used the former of these.
Firstly, you can treat the stain by wetting it with cold water and then rubbing the bar on the staink before putting it in with your wash as usual.
Secondly, if you wish to still try and attempt to wear the stained clothing, you an moisten the stain with cold water and then rub some of the bar on it before rinsing and blotting off with a clean towel.

The reverse of the product, also suggests that you treat the stain as soon as possible, and that you may have to treat tougher stains more than once. It also states that some stains like dried paint or permanent ink may not ever be able to be removed.

Since we got married several years ago, I seem to have used this vanish pre wash bar on an almost weekly basis to tackle stains, particularly stains such as tomato sauce of pasta sauce that often splash on my clothes when cooking, and without fail, everytime I have used this bar to treat the stain before washing it, my clothes have come out stain free. I can understand entirely why my mum used to rave about this product.

I have had this product for about 2 and a half years now, and it doesn't even look as if it has been used much, and that's with use almost every week. It really does last for ages, and so is worth investing in, even though it is a very reasonable price to begin with.

All in all, I think this is a must for any laundry cupboard to tackle tough stains, as long as they are treated farily quickly. Of course, the big test will come when we eventually think of having a family, and dirty laundry and stains multiply, however I am still confident that this vanish pre wash bar will work as effectively on these as it does at present. I have tried other vanish products before, including one for carpet stains, and I have been extremely impressed at how well they work.

A great little soap bar to get rid of stains but still look after you clothes.
