Advantages: Stains Vanish

Disadvantages: Soap is very hard and takes a while to soften enough to rub onto fabric

I often have problems with stains on clothing even though I don't have to do washing for kids. The culprit, I must confess, is me. I'm a messy ***** you see. It could be red wine down a white tee-shirt, chocolate from a sticky finger, or even ice-cream. I do it all.

There are lots of in-wash stain removing products around but I do think they are very expensive to use. You have to treat the whole wash with these, or pour several capfuls onto a stain to make if work effectively. Then there are the pre soak and pre-wash ones, but to be honest I don't have the time to mess around with these things.

Vanish pre-wash bar is fast and economical to you. All you have to do is to wet it and rub it on the stain. Then load your washing machine and by the time you are ready to switch on, you're done with stain removal.

The Vanish pre-wash bar is 75g and it is really easy to find on supermarket shelves because of its bright pink colour. You really can't miss the Vanish range of products in any supermarket. It costs £1.95 and lasts for ages because you only use exactly what you need and there's no waste.

This product is safe to use on most fabrics and will remove any biological stain, plus a few others. I have used it for the removal of ink and it did work after the second treatment but on some felt tipped pens it didn't take the entire stain out. I guess it depends on the pen, but it's still worth a try.

Generally speaking, one treatment does the job and it's great not to have to rewash stained garments.

This is a long lasting product and I find that one bar lasts me for a month, or more, but that depends how many messy people you are washing for, of course.

I would recommend this highly effective stain removal product because it is safe to use on most fabric (if in doubt test a small area first), it's effective and it's inexpensive.

Summary: Cheap but effective compared with similar products

Would love to get one but neither my local Somerfields nor my local ASDA sells it!
Could you PM me if you can think where I might find them?

I use their spray version, haven't seen the bar. I will try this when the spray runs out x
