Advantages: Gets rid of stains!

Disadvantages: A little pricey

My husband and I are both quite messy and often end up with food all down our tops or spillages on clothes and linen so a must have in our house is a stain remover. As we live next door to my mum, I used to pop round to hers to nick her Vanish Stain Remover but eventually she noticed and told me to sod off and buy my own! So out I went to Asda to pick some of the same one up as it had always worked very well on my washing.

Vanish Stain Remover comes in a strikingly bright pink plastic spray bottle which I think makes it a very attractive buy for any girls out there (I hope they don't colour it pink thinking that it's only girls who do the washing though!). You can pick up a large 500 ml bottle of this for just under £2, whereas you can find other stain removers for much cheaper at less than £1 but, when it comes to washing clothes and linen, I do like them to look perfect so I'm happy to splash out a little bit more for this.

This is a pre-wash stain remover spray and specially formulated to remove the toughest stains. The bottle tells me that items need to be treated as soon as possible before the stain has set and that some tougher stains may need more than one treatment. This can be used on any fabrics apart from silk and other delicate fabrics. Both sides of the stain should be sprayed and left for one or two minutes before washing as usual.

At first, I didn't read the instructions properly and just sprayed on the stain side which didn't remove it completely. However, after properly reading what I was supposed to do and spraying on both sides, the results were excellent. It effectively got rid of any stains that the washing had and left all items, both colours and whites with no stains whatsoever. Items on which stains had set and had been there for a couple of days were a little harder to get rid of but, as the bottle says, after treating and washing twice, the stain was removed. Some stains such as paint and dried blood, I've found are much harder to come out but the bottle also states that paint and other stains such as ink or rust may not come out at all.

This is a great stain remover that works perfectly to remove any hard and tough stains. Even though the cost may be a little pricey compared to other stain removers, it lasts an awfully long time and it works brilliantly!

Summary: A pretty pink magical spray
