With a daughter that loves to paint but not wear an overall and hubby (to be) who is a chef, I forever seem to by trying to rid clothes of nasty looking stains with very little success. Whilst I am a big fan of Vanish Pre-Wash, I wanted something that I could just throw into the washer and let it work its magic.
On a recent visit to Tesco's, I Spotted this so thought I would give is a try.
Vanish is a well know brand and whenever I think of stain remover, this is the first product which comes to mind.
As well as the powder, they also do a liquid spray and a pre-wash stick, all are available from most supermarkets.
This comes in a large pink bottle with a screw top lid (it looks similar to a bottle of fabric softener).
*Price and availability:*
I believe this is a fairly new product, but I have seen it available in both Tesco's and Asda recently and costs around £4.50 for a 1 litre bottle.
*How to use:*
The main reason I brought this was that it can be put straight into the same compartment where I put my normal detergent and then start the washer.
You can also use is as a pre-wash, just pour a small amount onto the stain, gently rub in, leave it for about 10 minutes and then wash as normal.
You can also leave you clothes to soak if it a particularly hard stain, just add 60ml of gel to 4 litres of water and leave to soak (maximum of 1 hours for colours and 6 hours for whites).
Although the pre-wash spray doesn't really take much effort, I sometimes haven't got time to wait a couple of minutes while it works before I then put the clothes in the washer so this product seemed ideal.
What I really like is with this version, you can use the product 3 different ways so if I find I have got time to soak clothes etc, I can, but if I am in a hurry, I just add it to my main washing detergent.
Another great factor with this product is it designed for sensitive skin, my partner has skin that does get irritated quite quickly and I normally use Fairy Non Bio, I found that Vanish was very gentle on no problems were experienced.
I have found it was great at removing paint from my daughters clothes and surprisingly, also very good at removing dried on food stains from my partners chef whites so it did what it should in this area too.
Overall, I would recommend this product, particularly if you have children (or husbands) that forever seem to have stains on their clothes.
5 out of 5 stars - well done Vanish!
