I'd recommend buying citric acid in powder form, and make your own acid solution by just mixing it with water. It's significantly cheaper than Viakal, and you can adjust the acidity level by just adding more or less water. It's also great for cleaning cat water fountains, and their water pumps, which get clogged up frequently with either limescale or catfood! You can actually hear it bubbling away inside the pump motor when you add the acid. Citric acid is also ideal for descaling your kettle element - just cover the element with water, add a tablespoon of citric acid powder and mix it in, then leave it for an hour or two, and voila: your kettle looks brand ...

Living in a hard water area as we do, bathroom cleaning can be a real chore, being a never-ending battle to keep lime-scale at bay. No matter how frequently the bathroom is cleaned, the lime-scale returns in no time, and I swear that if you were to sit there for a few hours staring at the taps, you would actually see it materialise before your very eyes. I used to clean my baths and sinks with Jif for many years, putting up with the white floury remains that were often left behind and then I discovered Viakal & I haven't looked back since. It is a limescale cleaner and is excellent at cleaning without leaving any marks behind at all. It is pretty expensive and for that reason I sometimes grudgingly go back to using a different type of cleaner but I always end up going back to Viakal. What I tend to do is pour a little of it around the taps to sink in and remove any limescale before starting to clean the actual sink with it. It leaves it with a lovely shine.
