Advantages: A Million Uses (Probably)
Disadvantages: Remeber to be Safe with it!
I'm sure that if you were to reduce my house, garage and car to the molecular level, you would find that WD-40 makes up around 10% of everything I own! This is because I just find it so versatile and useful!
To state the obvious, the following are tasks which I personally use WD-40 for, and I wouldn't recommend you to follow them - make sure you use it safely and follow the directions on the can!
The main things I use it for around the home & garden are as follows:
> Stopping squeaks - works on locks, doors, etc.;
> Lawn Mower - a quick spray on the blades keeps grass from sticking to them;
> Tool Cleaning - a quick spray on a cloth and tools can be wiped down with ease. A further spray in the tool box keeps moisture at bay;
> De-greasing - anything metal or plastic which has got mucky can be quickly cleaned with some WD-40 on a paper towel!;
I also use this for my car, motorbike and bicycle for the following:
> Locks - a quick spray into locks keeps moisture away;
> Moisture - A quick spray in moisture-traps will drive out moisture;
> Rust - I spray WD-40 over bare metal to enable a thorough post-wash wipe-down and to ensure the majority of water is taken off;
> Cleaning - WD-40 polishes up my bikes stainless steel exhaust brilliantly - be careful to do this when it is cool though as WD-40 is flammable!;
> Cables - I spray a bit around cables to keep the grime from accumulating.
This is a brilliant fluid for a massive array of household jobs - I have a can in my garage and feel lost without it!
Just remember use it safely!
