After my roof leaked and came through the dining room ceiling in my flat I had to have the whole ceiling removed and replaced, unfortunately the plasterer did not include painting so I was left to do the job myself. I have had to paint new plaster before and had done the usual watering down emulsion for the first two coats then final non watered down third coat. Anyone who has had to do this will know what a faff on it can be not to mention time consuming. So I reluctantly packed myself off to Wickes to buy some paint. Whilst there I came across Wickes' Trade Matt for new plaster. I was a bit sceptical about it knowing that new plaster can crack if not painted properly. After a quick reassuring chat to one of the Wickes staff I thought I'd give it a go.

So what makes this paint different? Trade Paint For Newly Painted Plaster is specifically designed for application to newly plastered walls and ceilings. It contains a blend of polymers (not exactly sure what these are) which allows the plaster to breathe whilst drying, preventing cracking.

In my experience the paint was very high quality with about the same consistency as regular emulsion consistency. It was easy to apply with a roller and one coat was enough to completely cover the new plaster. I would wholly recommend this paint it has excellent results without having to water down and apply multiple coats.
