A great value baking product that is non-stick

In my new found love of baking and cooking I am slowly purchasing some more products, this weeks buy was a non-stick baking sheet from Wilko.

This is a non-stick baking sheet measuring 33.8 x 30.6 x 1.4 cm, it comes with a 5 year guarantee and is dishwasher safe. Comes in metallic grey which is quite nice I think and would suit most kitchens.

On the back of the label you find some care instructions which say :-

      - not to bakes above 230 degrees C /450 degrees F or gas mark 8
      - that you should apply a small amount of fat or oil over the baking side before washing and drying prior to use. This apparently can be done every now and again to help keep you tray in tip top condition.
      - don't use metal tools as they may scratch the non-stick surface of your tray.

Although dishwasher safe, not everyone has a dishwasher. For cleaning the company recommends that you allow to cool and remove any large pieces of left over food (if burnt on soak first), before immersing in hot soapy water. They suggest that you don't use scourers or metal abrasives as this may also damage the non-stick surface.

I bought this tray as I wanted something to bake biscuits upon which I could easily slide off when they were cooked. Since then I have found many other uses, I have made a mini flat puff pastry dish, used it as a pizza tray and even made some dog biscuits on it!
I am impressed with the quality of the tray, the non-stick surface seems to be good and since nothing has stuck so far I can only assume it works. The tray has a lip on the one shorter side to allow you to grab hold of it from the oven and two barley noticeable ones on either longer side, which is just enough to prevent items falling off into the oven.
Each item has slid off very easily with a plastic spatula or slice that I tend to use now, with only an occasional piece left behind.
I wash my tray's by hand and tend to wash them alone in the bowl so as not to accidentally scratch with another item. They do wash easily and even burnt on items I find come off if left to soak without virtually any scrubbing.
After not really looking after my kitchen cooking trays in the manner they deserve I found myself constantly buying more. Time to turn over a new leaf and look after them to save money and to stop filling up the metal recycler at the tip!

Available from Wilko stores and on line at www.wilkinsonplus.com for £2.25
