Advantages: Nice selection of colours and the dripping is managable

Disadvantages: The Wilkinson paint left my walls looking patchy and i needed lots of coats on the walls

When I decorated my bathroom and bedroom last month I was suprised how expensive emulsion paint is. I didn't want to spend £18 - £20 on Dulux paint so thought I would try paint from Wilkinsons.

I brought a 5 liter tin of lilac paint and another 5 liter tin of magnolia paint. They cost £7.50 for each tin and because my rooms are so small one tin of each would do both rooms.

I think the paint brushes onto the wall very well and it is easy to see what area of the wall you have already painted . The paint is a bit thinner than Dulux paint and drips more but if you are careful then this shouldn't be a problem for you. When I used the paint roller it didn't drip at all. i was painting over white walls but I still had to use 2 coats in the bedroom and 3 to cover my bathroom wall properly. I don't think it would be worth you trying to use this Wilkinson paint if you was trying to paint over a dark colour like blue or purple because you would need so many coats.

I don't think the colour of the paint when it is on the wall is as nice as it looked in the tin because even after 2 coats the colour looks washy on the wall and is a bit patchy even though I am experienced at painting. I should have brought a little tester pot before I brought the big tin and then I might not have tried saving money by scrimmping on a cheap paint.

Summary: Cheap paint but I should have stayed with Dulux I think

It's cheaper because it's thinner so you need to use more of it. You can't win. You might as well use the decent stuff in the end!

never compromise on paint.

This stuff is best used as a primer that you then paint over with better quality paint.
