Advantages: none

Disadvantages: cheap rubbish

I brought a tin of wilkinsons own brand paint to paint my kitchen, i chose this because it was cheaper than alternative brands at just £7.99 for a 5 liter tin, B&Q charge £9.99 for a 2.5 liter tin so i made a conciderable saving.

When i first opened the tin it looked a bit watery but after stiring it up it looked just the same as all other paints. My kitchen is aliglipter paper at the top and tiles at the bottom so i only had to paint half the room. I started at the top of the wall by the ceiling and worked my way down, this paint went on to my walls lovely and smooth, it took 2 coats to cover properly which i was a bit disapointed about as i was using a blue paint onto white paper so expected it to cover in one coat but after the second coat it looked lovely.

I dont do much cooking so it was about 2 weeks later when i first used my cooker again so that had given the paint more than long enough to have dryed but as my pasta boiled away on the hob the paint above the hob started to run down the walls like water and go all over my tiles leaving me with a very light covering of patchy paint above my cooker. i was not impreses with this.

I know B&Q do a kitchen and bathroom paint designed to be washable but i had always used ordinary emultion in my kitchen untill now with no problems, i had to buy a tub of B&Q paint and start all over again.

I thought i was saving money by buying wilkos paint but it ended up being a waste of money and time.

Summary: a rubbish paint i wouldnt recomend to anyone

As above, its a bit unclear why this paint would wash off unless it is the silk version.

Maybe the paint was a matt emulsion rather than vinyl silk. Not sure if the difference matters in a kitchen but the silk version is wipeable.
