Advantages: quick and convenient to use

Disadvantages: might need gloves as left hands sore, not as economical as spray and a cloth

I always tend to keep a packet of cleaning wipes in the house, because whilst they're not exactly economical, they are convenient, and therefore useful to have on hand. I usually buy the Wilkinson's Lemon fragranced Anti-Bacterial Wipes, but last time I went shopping they didn't have any, so I reluctantly got the Lavender ones. I'm not overly keen on the scent of lavender, however the alternative brands of wipes were a lot pricier, and one thing I hate spending money on is cleaning products, so I just got these anyway.

The wipes come in a lilac coloured pack, with a sticky resealable tab on the top. I'm sure you know the kind of thing I mean - like a pack of baby wipes. There is a picture of some gleaming tiles with a bunch of lavender sprigs laid on them. I find the plastic of the pack is quite thick and durable and the tab stays sticky until the last wipe, meaning the wipes stay moist.

So what are the wipes for? Well, the wipes are impregnated with an anti-bacterial solution, so are basically a quick way to disinfect the surfaces of your home whilst cleaning them. The pack does advise to test the wipes on an inconspicuous area before using, but the only surface it tells us not to use the wipes on, is on soft furnishings - something I would have thought pretty obvious!

The wipes are fairly thick - not the thickest I have used - but thick enough not to tear whilst using them. They have a sort of pattern on the surface and a very faint lavender smell. I was actually quite surprised how gentle the smell is - for someone who doesn't like lavender, I found these to be totally fine, scent wise.

The wipes are very versatile, being suitable for so many surfaces in the home, but I tend to use a bottle of cleaning spray and a cloth, rather than using these all the time. I do find that they are useful for little jobs, such as wiping down the front of the washing machine, cleaning the phone or wiping sticky finger prints from doors. I find the wipes get most things clean, but saying that, I never use them on tough stains, they are mainly for the little jobs I have just mentioned. I don't think their cleaning power would be strong enough to get rid of say burnt on stains on a hob for example.

Since I have the pack in front of me, I have just used them to give my keyboard a quick wipe over. I usually always wear gloves when cleaning to protect my hands, but on this occasion I didn't. Having only used one wipe, I am now actually finding that my hands are feeling quite dry and irritated. I do have quite sensitive skin, which becomes dry easily, but I'm still surprised that one wipe, which could have been in my hand for no longer than half a minute, has had this effect, and is something to bear in mind.

A pack of 40 wipes will cost you just 85p from Wilkinson's.

So, in conclusion, these are handy to have around the house for smaller jobs, although personally I would not use them as a part of my every day cleaning.
