One thing I really do like in my home is candles. I like the warm glow and feeling that they give off and often I buy them in the scented variety.
I live by a Wilkinsons store which means I can pop in with my pennies all to often and recently whilst in store I was looking at the candles and spotted this vanilla one for a pound. I took a quick sniff of it and liked it and there was a couple of other colours/scents to choose from but I liked this one best as it was a subtle scent and not too in your face and then I looked at the price and was surprised that it was only a pound and so nabbed one!
These is no information given on this apart from being told what it is and who it is by. Its plain but nice looking being almost full to the glass tumblers rim with off white coloured wax and the glass would be reusable too.
The white coloured wick is to the centre of course of the candle and all that is left to do is light it of course!
This is great whether lit or not. Even not lit and close by I can detect some of the aroma it has to it but when lit this gives off a light and natural fragrance of vanilla that isn't too sweet or sickly which is what I sometimes find with vanilla scents. I have been burning mine off and on for the past couple of weeks now and estimate about 15 hours of burn time usage so far and there's still plenty of life left in mine so far.
The only negative with this that I have found is the longer you leave it burning the glass goes black and sooty leaving it not looking quite so great and think if you want to avoid this you should burn it for shorter spurts than I do but for a quid you can't grumble and the scent of it is really pleasant....just not Yankee kind of nice but then you wouldn't or shouldn't expect it to be for its cheap price anyway!
Only available from Wilkinsons stores.
When looking around the homewares section in my local Wilkinson, I noticed that there was a vanilla candle that I had not bought yet. The product in question for this review is the Wilko Candle in Glass. As this is a Wilko product, you will only be able to find it in store or online.
The reason why I bought this candle (multiples of it actually) is because it was already housed in a glass casing. Most candles from Wilkinson don't have any kind of covering unless you buy candle holders from them. This vanilla scented candle is only £1 and it has a lovely glass casing which I assume will be reusable. The glass is nice and thick and you can see that it won't break easily. The candle inside is also of a decent size with about an inch left clear from the top. The candle is white in colour which goes with the vanilla scent and has a small white wick in the middle.
This candle is so much better than the cheap tealights you can get from Wilkinson. There is no advice anywhere about how long the candle is supposed to last for although I have been burning one for roughly 7 hours and there is still way over half of the wax left. The scent of vanilla is also really strong with this candle, which is something that you don't get with the tealights. The wick burns really brightly and as I normally have 4 of these burning at any one time, they light up my bedroom really well. I have these on my bedside table so 4 of them give off enough light for me to be able to read next to them.
I really like these candles in comparison to the cheaper items available. Once the candle are blown out, they do give off quite a lot of smoke which is my only real negative about this product. It takes a little while for the smoke to clear and that isn't a good thing when I blow them out just before going to sleep. However, I would definitely buy this candle again.
