Advantages: Quick and easy to use, Wipes of marks well, Very use to clean car windscreens
Disadvantages: Not really suitable for a large job, Dried out in the packet quite quickly
If you ever met me and came to my house you could probably tell that I?m the mother of two small children, even if my daughters were not at home. One by the look of exhaustion I permanently seem to wear, and two by the amount of yoghurt there is on my windows! We have a patio door in our living room, and if I?m not quick with a wet cloth after meal times my three year old daughter loves nothing better than wiping her yoghurty hands on the windows. Why have your hands wiped by Mummy when you have a large pane of glass to do the job! So as you can imagine cleaning windows is something I do quite often. This means I?m often to be found down the cleaners aisle in the supermarket, looking for something that will make the job quicker. It was there I found Windolene Window Wipes. Basically it?s a very simple idea. The pack contains 20 large wipes impregnated with Windolene cleaner. When you have a dirty window, you just get a wipe out and clean it. No mucking about with sprays and liquids or having two cloths to rub the stuff on and off. Simple. The packet promises a smear free shine, which is want you want. It also says that the wipes can be used on television screens, mirrors, glass tables and car windscreens. (Although be careful if using one to clean a T.V. screen, as our T.V.?s instruction book says not to use anything to clean the screen except a soft dry cloth) So I brought a pack to give them a go. The next day I noticed yoghurt on the patio door, so fetched the packet. One wipe later the yoghurt was gone. The window wasn?t exactly smear free, I did wipe it again with a dry cloth afterwards, but it was clean. The wipes also cleaned the mirror in our hall well, (someone?s wet nose that time I think!), and they were very useful when cleaning the car, as it?s difficult to use a spray cleaner inside on the windscreen. The downside to them is that there aren?t really designed for cleaning a large window. To clean the whole of our pati
o door I would probably have used three wipes, making it rather an expensive way to clean. When cleaning the whole window I would still use the more traditional type of cleaner, keeping the wipes for the small quick jobs. Also I found that by the end of the packet the wipes were getting rather dry. As you can probably tell windows get cleaned a lot in my house, so the wipes weren?t hanging around for long, so I was surprised to find the last two were drying out, making cleaning difficult. I have brought another packet, as there are a handy thing to have in the cupboard, waiting for yoghurt/window emergencies. I just wouldn?t think of them as my main window cleaner, just an added extra!
