Advantages: does a good job
Disadvantages: not a great smell & directions etc hard to read
We're lucky enough to live in a house that has more than it's fair share of windows which is great - until the sun comes out that is! The sunshine seems to highlight every smear & any area with grime including fingermarks & pawmarks etc.
Cleaning window is the worst chore I think & as soon as I've finished doing them they all need doing again so I'm always on the lookout for a good but reasonably-priced spray. To date the best one I've used is good old Windolene which is usually on offer at one of the large supermarkets or in Qualitysave-type shops. I usaully pay around the £1.49 mark for a 500 ml bottle.
The bottle itself isn't very exciting & has clear liquid inside the trigger spray container (not as shown in the picture). Windolene make different types of cleaner which can be found either in sprays, cream or wipes but I always opt for the original which claims to clean both windows & glass surface areas.
I hate these types of trigger action bottles as initially they're so darned fiddly to get going but once done there isn't a problem & the spray comes out easily enough & you can squirt it onto the offending area directly or onto a cloth.
It works well & is one of the top streak-free products I've used but it still requires a good rub with a cloth/ paper towels/ newspaper unfortunately.
The smell is a bit on the chemical side but makes the rooms feel fresh & at least the family can tell I've been cleaning.
The product claims to do the following -
- dissolves grease
- lifts off dirt
- leaves a sparkling shine
opinion
~
- Well, we don't actually have greasy windows but it works well on the bathroom mirrors & helps remove the usual soap/toothpaste/mouthwash/shampoo that somehow lands on them.
- It does lift off the dirt as I've seen the evidence on the cloth.
- Sparkling shine? - well everything does look cleaner but I wouldn't say sparkling clean.
I'm pleased with the results overall as you can tell I've done the windows & any smears which may be left are probably due to my impatience & lack of rubbing clean.
The only thing I can say I'm surprised at is the way the ingredients & directions for use have been printed they're on the inner side of the lable so you have to peer through the other side of the see-through bottle & they're difficult to read.
summary
~
- a great help when you're doing the dreaded windows.
- not a great smell but does a good job.
- on the whole I think the product results in clean & generally smear-free windows.
- quite economical to use as you don't need much.
- easy to use once opened.
- recommended product if you have to do your own windows etc.
Summary: great if you need a little help with windows, glass or mirrors
