Now that it is 3 months since I had my new pine kitchen fitted, I decided it was time to accede to the manufacturer's request that I polish the wood occasionally with a beeswax product. So, a week ago, I halted my usual mad dash around Sainsburys to take time before the furniture polish shelf. I didn't really know what I was looking for, except that it would not be the usual adequate cleaner/polishes such as Sparkle or Mr Sheen. I suppose I was thinking Pledge or suchlike, rather than the tins of solid stuff from a hardware store. Restoring wood is a hobby of mine, but this was just housework and I wanted a spray. It was a few minutes before my eyes ... Read the complete review

I started using wood silk furniture polish a few years ago when I bought some solid wood living room furniture. It is around £1.40 in most supermarkets and comes in a yellow and brown honeycomb effect tin, with cone shaped lid. The polish is for sealed wood furniture only, otherwise the product will seep into the unsealed wood and mark it. This is stated on the back along with comprehensive instructions (which I suggest you read first). This polish is a non silicone product made with bees wax and nutrient oils, which is one of the things that first attracted me to it. When you spray the polish it leaves a waxy/greasy sheen which slowly disappears but gives fantastic ... Read the complete review

After many years, my wood became rather dull, and murky if you like.. You know, as it does! I took a trip to the supermarket, in desperate need to get my house looking as beautiful as it did on first moving in (they say never work with children and animals, if you have beautiful wooden surfaces, I'd agree with this!) when I came across a new brand wood polish - yes, you're right - Wood Silk furniture polish. Having tried practically all the other brands on the shelf (which were rubbish, don't bother with them!) this came as a magnificant surprise. So, at the check out I conversed with the lady on the till, she told me I'd made a good choice, ... Read the complete review

Woodsilk will put an extremely clean and bright shine on old bronzes and spelter figures without harming the patina. We acquired ours at Morrison's in Bishop Auckland. The polish does not seem to harm anything. The lady with the banister might have a point about a surface that is not sealed, but we have used it on the wooden boxes which house dominoes and chess figures and other sorts of Victorian parlour games such as wood games and draughts with no ill effect. The polish of a stain should be put on first. We have used some burnt umber to stain the bare wood and the the wax later. The use on old frames has proven beneficial for the Woodsilk brightens the gilt and ... Read the complete review

Went to Tesco looking for Beeswax, no solid preparations but spotted this Wood Silk spray which seemed to give the best of both worlds- convenience with natural beeswax. Used it in my hall way brought out the colour of my sideboard nicely. It has a rather acrid harsh smell/sensation when you spray it. An hour or so later I started itching- thighs and armpits. Showered but the itching continued, over next few days a red nettle still rash came out over most of my body eventually becoming confluent, my thighs were swollen and I weighed 5kg more. My lower arms and legs got sporadic involvement also, felt lethargic and a bit headachey. No listing for the company in ... Read the complete review
