Advantages: Gorgeous scent, long lasting
Disadvantages: More expensive than other brands due to quality
For the last 2-3 years I have been trying out different Yankee Candles, for scented candles, in my opinion, no other brand comes close. Yankee Candle offer over 175 fragrances across their products which also include wax tarts, diffusers, car fresheners etc. The diffusers are a particularly nice product, I have one in the hall so the smell greets you as you enter the front door.
The candles can be purchased from a number of retailers, both on the high street and online, and I tend to purchase mine either in Clinton Cards, www.ebay.co.uk or www.amazon.co.uk. They are also sold in my local independent card shop so I like to go in there to smell the fragrances before purchasing elsewhere online a lot cheaper! You do have to remember though that they smell different as they burn so do not go by the initial scent only. It's a good idea to check all the sites listed above and simply type into google as the websites often have different discounts and offers at different times.
Some of the fragrances are available in just one product i.e the candles but some of the more popular fragrances are available in all different products as mentioned above. The product pictured above this review is the Baby Powder wax tart, this needs to be placed in a tart burner with a tea light underneath and melts into an oil consistency then hardens again once cooled. These can range from £1.50-£2 depending where you buy and will burn up to 8 hours, this is nice if you like to chop and change your fragrances regularly as it's an inexpensive way to do so and try out lots of different scents.
This review is for the Baby Powder candle which I have had in both tea lights, and medium jar.
You can of course get them on offer, I have previously bought a set of two medium jars for £18 from Play.com and a large jar for £14.50 from Clintons but the medium jars usually cost around £15 and the large around £18
One fragrance that is a firm favourite of mine is this one, Baby Powder. The scent is just like a mixture of talcum powder and baby moisturiser, it's fresh and comforting whilst being warm and homely at the same time. If you like the smell of baby products then you are bound to like this scent.
The medium glass jar that I have is a good strong, thick glass. There is a heavier lid on the top of the jar which has a sort of 'stopper' lid with a rubber seal and I find that this acts very well at holding the life of the fragrances in my Yankee Candle Jars.
Yankee candles are coloured according to the fragrance they are portraying, for example, Baby Powder is a our White wax which I think is very fitting. The label is also White with pictures of baby items such as a babies hairbrush, a little mirror and a pot of talcum powder.
The fragrance of the candle, like all Yankee candles, is very prominent as soon as you take the lid off. It's an absolutely gorgeous smell and like I mentioned above, adds a really nice soft fragrance to the home without being too overpowering and I find it leaves a lovely scent in the house even a few hours after extinguishing. As I have two dogs in our house I like to burn a Yankee candle each evening to freshen up the house and Baby Powder is a firm favourite for this and my boyfriend also likes it. If we have visitors they often comment on the scent also saying how true to talcum powder it is!
I would recommend Yankee Candles to anyone and often buy them as gifts and receive them often as people know how much I like them. Before I owned one I used to think that they were overpriced but now after experiencing them first hand I believe that they are worth every penny as the lower you get down the candle, the scent does not diminish in the slightest which is what I imagined would happen. I believe the quality and the longevity of the candles are worth the above average price tag for candles. I'd rather pay more for a Yankee than pay half for another brand and be disappointed. I'll continue to try out the different Yankee Candle scents as I am yet to be disappointed by them!
Thank you for reading and I urge you to try this scent if you like the smell of talcum powder and babies!
Summary: I'd recommend 100%
