Advantages: Smells lovely, well priced, various sizes

Disadvantages: None

Last year I began using Yankee Candles after wondering what all the fuss was about, I had bought myself a few to try out and deciding this was something I liked I asked for some for christmas so my Mam bought me a good selection.

You can get yankee candles in a number of shops but also there are lopads of internet shops that sell them, our local Asda Living store sells them as well as a lovely little village shop we have. My Mam sent away for a selection for me from the yankee shop but there are a huge number of online retailers the only drawback of course being that you cannot have a smell of them before your purchase although if you know what it is you want you can buy them cheaper if you are prepared to buy a few. If you are really lucky Home Bargains have been known to sell these for 19p each.

In 1969 Mike Kittredge was trying to make his mother a gift and so he tried to melt down some crayons, somebody saw what he had made his mother and requested they buy the item from him, he allowed them to buy it and made more from supplies bought with the money and the Yankee Candle was born.

Yankee candles come in many different shapes and sizes which all carry relevant price tags, there are over 100 different fragrances and new ones are released throughout the year for different occasions, my guess is the queens jubilee will be the next target.

Description from Yankee Candle "The absolutely delicious sweetness of rich, ripe black cherries."

The tart is a fluted shape just like the pastry of a jam tart which i guess is where it gets it name from, this tart is a really deep red colour just like the red of a cherry. The tartlet is packaged in the usual way, a vacuum packed thin plastic wrapper which can be a pain to get into and so I find a pair of scissors to make a little snip the easiest way to open it. The tart is about 5cm in diameter so you wouldn't expect to get 8 hours burning time from it but you do if not more although the wax lasts longer than the smell. The front of the packaging has a small sticker on it displaying the name of the tartlet and a picture of what looks like a wicker tub full of lovely cherries, on the back there is a further sticker and as the tartlet is so small you have some warnings but instead of being in words they are in picture form,

Do not add water
Don't melt in a frying pan - who is really that stupid?
The tart is 22g and will burn for 8 hours - I believe some of these burn for more than 8 hours and some lose their smell before the 8 hours is up.
Do not use with electric
Do not leave unattended
Do not use near curtains
Keep 10cm between candles
Keep away from children

You can smell the scent of the candle through the wrapper and so if you are buying any of them in person you do have a good idea what the candle is going to smell like once it is burning.

This tart smells really nice and is a sweet smell but without being too sickly, the tart took about 15 minutes melting time before the smell started to drift through the front room and not much longer to be able to be smelt upstairs. The morning after burning this tart I could smell the fruity smell throughout the house and I like this as I think you are really getting good value since you can still smell it evben when it isn't being burnt. I love this scent and it is one that I will be buying again.

Summary: Another one I like
