Yankee Candle Blissful Autumn
Advantages: Nice fragrance
Disadvantages: Longevity not as good as others
Yankee's Blissful Autumn wax tart was one I picked up in my local branch of Collectables recently whilst snapping up some half-price Christmas tarts. Blissful Autumn was not reduced as obviously it wasn't part of the Christmas range, but it is actually one of Yankee's newer scents and when I spot a new one which looks appealing, I like to try it. And so despite this wax tart being full price (£1.20) I purchased one along with my bargain buys.
This wax tart appealed to me right away as soon as I spotted it, as not only is blue my favourite colour but its name 'Blissful Autumn' conjured up thoughts of maybe a woody scent which I would like.
I held the tart up to my nose in the shop whilst still in its wrapping and my first thoughts were ones of slight disappointment, as although the fragrance was attractive, it wasn't very strong.
Undeterred by this however, I made my purchase, as there have been occasions when I have purchased wax tarts which don't seem very strong initially, but turn out to be totally adequate when melting. I have experienced a couple of disappointing fragrances but these seem to be few and far between and so I remained positive about Blissful Autumn.
Yankee describe Blissful Autumn as being reminiscent of crisp autumn air with orchard fruit breezes...blissfully brisk and woody.
Now this is a description I would go along with, as it certainly is a woody fragrance and there is most definitely a slight fruity scent there too.
With my Blissful Autumn wax tart not smelling so strong before I came to use it, I did wonder what its longevity would be like and whether or not I would achieve the 8 hours of fragrance which Yankee state you can expect from a wax tart. Only very rarely have I found I achieved under the 8 hours of fragrance. Indeed most Yankee tarts give me over the 8 hours I have found.
After placing the tart in my burner and lighting a tealight underneath, it was a few minutes before I detected the scent beginning to appear as the wax melted.
My favourite Yankee fragrances seem to be masculine, very often reminding me of aftershave with woody, spicy fragrances and my other favourites are fruity scents, so I thought Blissful Autumn would be an ideal fragrance for me as a combination of both.
The fragrance from my wax tart as it began to melt was really nice. I thought I detected a slight scent of apple and pear but it was overall a lovely woody scent which I was enjoying as it filled the air. Although not as strong as many others I have used, it was adequate and I allowed the tealight to burn out which was around 3 hours.
It was when I came to light another tealight the next evening that I thought the fragrance was weakening and by the next evening it was barely evident when I lit a third tealight. Indeed it was a struggle to eke out 8 hours of fragrance from this tart. I would say I enjoyed around 4 - 5 hours of decent fragrance from this one and a further couple of hours of a weaker fragrance, before I could no longer smell it in the air at all as it rapidly seemed to vanish after 7 hours.
Although I liked the scent of Blissful Autumn it could do with being a stronger fragrance then maybe it would give greater longevity. The strength of fragrance does let this one down a little.
I would maybe purchase this one again, but it would not be one of my first choices as I like to get as much fragrance as possible for my money. If I saw it reduced in price then I would purchase it again, but if full price then there are others which are far better value for money in my opinion.
By buying a wax tart or a votive from Yankee you are also getting the chance to sample the fragrance and see if you like it before buying the more expensive scented glass jars. I personally recommend you do this, as by buying this Blissful Autumn wax tart for instance, I now know that I would never purchase it in glass jar format due to the below average strength of fragrance.
The usual price of the wax tarts vary between £1.20 - £1.30 and they are available to buy online from Yankee outlets as well as Amazon and also from card and gift retailers.
Summary: Lovely fragrance but its longevity lets this one down.
