Yankee Candle Cherry Lemonade
Advantages: Subtle scent, long lasting
Disadvantages: I was expecting a stronger fragrance
I love Yankee Candles and have tried many different fragrances. I tend to go for the wax tarts as I find these long lasting and they retail for a very reasonable price allowing me to try out lots of different scents. On 23rd December my Dad decided he must buy something else for my Mum for Christmas but of course he won't go shopping in person so it was left to me and my sister to track down the exact thing he wanted and order it to be delivered next day! My sister was with my Mum so the responsibility lay on me. I managed to get the watch he wanted from Very and I had come across a voucher code online a couple of days prior for this for a free Yankee Candle. I ordered the watch and it all arrived next day thank goodness. My Dad wrapped both up for Mum as it was Christmas Eve so he couldn't get anyone else to do it (must be the first wrapping he's done since having kids old enough to do it for him!).
Mum isn't allowed candles as she once managed to get smoke stains all up the bathroom wall so of course on Christmas Day both me and my sister had our eyes on it! Dad did say she could keep it but I think she is overly cautious now. However as me and my sister were both after it on Christmas Day she kept it. However, our elderly cat is very poorly at the moment and last week I spent pretty much most of the week running around getting him different foods etc. We thought that his vets visit on Friday would result in him being put to sleep so my Mum told me Thomas had got me something to say thank you and she handed me this. Luckily Thomas returned home :)
My candle is the small sized glass jar candle. The scent is one that I hadn't actually seen prior to getting this candle and it is definitely one that I would have chosen myself as I do like the more fruity fragrances. The wax is a nice pink colour and it does look very appealing. The usual selling price for the small glass jar candle is around £8, the candle has a burning time of approx 25-40 hours. The jar is approx 4 inches tall and around 3 inches round at its largest point. The wax itself is about 3 inches tall.
To burn the candle you will need to remove the glass lid and light the good sized wick. The wick lit first try and I found it simple to light however once the candle gets lower and towards the bottom of the jar I imagine it will become more difficult however long matches would probably work just fine rather than a lighter.
I had the candle burning for at least 4 hours less than a metre away from myself. The scent was mild. I was expecting quite a zingy fragrance but it was much more mild than the cherry or lemon I was expecting. The scent did smell of cherries and lemons but it was quite a muted scent and I found that to really smell it I either had to position myself above the candle or really sniff. However it did freshen up the air in my home and provide a gentle fruity fragrance.
In the 4 or so hours I was burning the candle around half a cm at the top turned to liquid wax. This formed back to solid wax very quickly and the candle looks full still so not much of it has been used at all.
I do like this scent but it is more muted than I had expected. It has a nice subtle fresh fruity fragrance and it did scent the room but the next morning the scent was long gone. The jar itself looks really cute and I would buy a jar again as for around £8 I think it is really reasonable and when you have 2 curious kittens in the house I think that it is that tiny bit safer than the hot wax tarts or a candle on a holder.
A nice, more subtle scent that freshens. Thank you Thomas <3
