Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie
Advantages: Smells as described, pretty candle and presentation and long lasting
Disadvantages: They seem a little expensive when you look at the price but they do last ages
I have loved the Yankee candle since my first ever purchase at the start of the year and have been trying a steady flow of them so there's a fair few reviews stocking up back here! But as Christmas is just around the corner i thought I would try one of the festive fragrances. My first choice was the Christmas Cookie and I chose a 1 wick regular tumbler as I liked the scent so much in the shop.
The presentation of then in jars and tumblers also appealed as our lounge, dining room and bedroom are all muted pale tones with silver and glass ornaments etc, so the Yankee Candles fitted in with the décor beautifully. They look so simple and elegant in the tumblers and jars and looked great in our rooms. Also for the price of them and how long they last they are well worth the money.
The Yankee Candle idea began in 1969 when a young Mike Kittredge melted down some crayons to make his mother a Christmas Candle. The Candle was so impressive a neighbour asked to buy the candle, so Mike Kittredge agreed and made another. From then on the Yankee Candle has become synonymous in the fragrance candle market and now has over 150 fragrances to its name.
The Yankee Candle range can be quite expensive when you first look at them. They have 4 main candle types:-
The most well know range is the Jars, which come in several sizes and styles:-
Large, Medium and Small Jars
Large, Medium and Regular Tumblers
Presentation, Packaging and Price
The Yankee Candle I bought was a Regular size costing £9.99 in a sale at Birthdays. The Regular Tumblers are a good sized candle presented in a glass jar with a brushed metal lid. On the front there is an image of a selection of colourful Christmas Cookies and biscuits. The Glass Jar is very classy and can be used again if so wished. It is a strong glass and the design is simple but gorgeous. On the lid the 'Yankee Candle' name is embossed on the top. The whole design is very simple but still looks stylish and luxurious.
The Candle fills the glass jar about 3/4 of the way up the jar. The Christmas Cookie Candle is a silky cream colour and I likened this to the look of buttercream, and the smell cookies and shortbread instantly fills your senses when you remove the lid. As the glass jar is clear you can see the cream colour of the candle all the way to the bottom which is a nice touch and means you could colour coordinate the candles to your home decor. The regular tumblers are said to have a burning time of 35-45 hours which when you put in perspective of the price means the pricing it more reasonable than you may first think.
When lit the fragrance seems to fill your room quite slowly unlike some other Yankee Candles i have tried which emit a huge burst of fragrance. With the Christmas Cookie the fragrance is more gradual and lighter but no less yummy! The candle really embodies the smell of Christmas baking and you can pick up on the buttery, sugary tones of cookie and shortbread with icing. It is a sweet and homely smell, and not sickly as you may worry from a cookie scented candle! Only problem i had was that being pregnant i don't need much encouragement to eat and this candle burning what smelt like cookies all evening made me ravenous!
Another Yankee Candle I will be buying again!
Summary: A festive fragrance you are sure to love!
