Advantages: Good idea for a fragrance, some people will like it.

Disadvantages: Overpowering and artificial!

As a family we always have an artificial tree at christmas, my mum says it is because she can't be doing with forever hoovering shed pine needles off the floor! With 2 dogs living in our rather small house a real tree is really not practical as the needles could damage their paws and my cocker spaniel would no doubt take a leak up the trunk!

It was near to christmas when I discovered this scent by Yankee Candle and I thought that it would be fabulous to get the authentic tree fragrance whilst still using our long suffering fibre optic! The tart in question is simply called Christmas Tree and promises the aroma of a nostalgic winter walk through evergreen forests...

When this tart first started to melt the smell was fresh and homely, a definate tree like aroma about it but as time went by the smell started to become overpowering and dare I say it - artificial, fake, rather...chemical like and quoting my dear mother, "it smells like Toilet Duck!" It wasn't long before the whole room smelt like an explosion in a dubious air freshener factory and needless to say the tealight was promptly blown out whilst we waited for the air to clear.

As a dedicated Yankee Candle fan I must say that I was disapointed with this offering, usually their fragrances are spot on but this one was a let down on so many levels. I dare say that some people will enjoy it but it isn't for me, back to the drawing board with this one I think! As always you can pick up these tarts for around £1.20 from numerous places - Bratts has a great selection so be sure to pop in and sniff a few.
