- Why I Bought -
I wouldn't say I am particularly into candles, if I am given them as a gift I will happily use them and I have sometimes bought them as gifts for other people but I have never bought any for myself. That was until I read review after review raving about the amazing Yankee Candle range. I simply had to try them for myself to see what all the fuss was about. The first candle I purchased was a Cinnamon Stick Sampler.

- The Cinnamon Stick Sampler -
I chose the sampler size for my first purchase as I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I chose the Cinnamon Stick fragrance mainly because it was half price but I do actually really like cinnamon as a cooking ingredient, particularly cinnamon and apple crumble. The candle comes packaged in a cellophane wrapper with a label that clearly states the brand, name of the fragrance and has a picture of cinnamon sticks. I was instantly impressed with the strong scent I could smell through the packaging. The candle is a deep orange colour which nicely matches the scent.
- Burning the Candle -
At home I placed the candle, still in its packaging on a coffee table in the living room. Every time I went near the table I smelt a gorgeous waft of cinnamon and this was before I had even lit it! Once I did light it I expected a very strong cinnamon fragrance to fill the room. Initially I thought it was a little too subtle for me as I could barely smell it unless I was stood right next to the candle. However, once I left the room and then returned to it I could instantly tell the dramatic difference between the two rooms. It made the rest of my house smell so bland and boring in comparison and had me wishing I had bought one for every room of the house! I think the smell is really authentic and it certainly does smell of cinnamon. It is quite a strong scent which may not suit some people but I found it ideal for covering the smell of a dirty nappy! I would describe it as rich, warm, sweet and spicy. It reminds me of winter and being cosy by the fire so I think it would definitely be very well suited to that time of year. But let's face it, I live in England and as I burnt this candle it was raining and rather chilly even though it way May. It made my house feel really homely and cosy, allowing me to forget about the terrible weather outside. I found the candle to be very relaxing.
I burnt this candle over about six evenings for at least two hours at a time so it certainly does last around 15 hours. This is impressive but what impressed me most was that I could still smell the gorgeous cinnamon scent the following day after burning it. The smell lingers four hours and hours after burning which indicates to me that it is of a very high quality. It did occur to me that if I hadn't liked the scent I may have been stuck with it for a few hours!
- Price and Availability -
The standard price for a sampler size is £1.80. I bought mine for 87p in Clintons as it was half price. They are also available from Yankee.co.uk, Yankee Direct, Amazon and Ebay. It is worth shopping around as you definitely don't need to pay the RRP.
- Would I Recommend? -
I would definitely recommend the Cinnamon Stick fragrance Yankee Candles. I loved the smell and the quality of the candle and burn time was great. It is especially nice when the weather isn't so nice, which in England is most of the year unfortunately!
Summary: A gorgeous authentic cinnamon scent to make you feel cosy when the weather is rubbish
