After trying out of a few cheaper scented jar candles, this is the one that started my current candle obsession. Dissatisfied with the scent throw I was achieving from the candles I had, I decided to go for it and spend a little of my Christmas money on a Yankee Candle, having heard how amazing they are. I wasn't disappointed.

As we're talking mainly about the fragrance here, I will quickly round up the options available in terms of formats you can buy Yankee products. Besides the candles, which come in small, medium and large jars as well as tumblers, there are wax tarts, car fresheners, room freshener sprays, sachets you can stick in drawers...there's a lot of choice.

I love clean scents and particularly love the smell of just-washed clothes, especially if I've used someone else's detergent and notice it more, so this kind of scent is right up my alley. I can't explain it's scent other than LAUNDRY DETERGENT! That might seem like a bizarre thing to want something to smell like, but it's such a fresh and comforting scent. It instantly makes the room feel as though it just had a through spring cleaning and fresh sheets!

Yankee describe the scent as "sun-dried cotton combined with green notes, white flowers, and a hint of lemon". Honestly I don't really smell many of those elements besides the cotton. I definitely don't detect citrus, which in a way is good in my opinion because I love citrus but it can smell very artificial in some candles and end up smelling like a cleaning spray. It's very strange because no matter what detergent you personally use, you will recognise this as smelling the same. There is just no other way to describe the scent.

Strength-wise, it does throw off a good amount of scent but obviously as the scent itself is so light and fresh it never becomes overpowering. It definitely does have the power behind it to make a room smell fresh and clean, and I dare say go a ways to mask unpleasant odours also! For this reason, I'm really glad I opted for a small jar, as I can bring it along when travelling and have a comforting, fresh scent whenever I want or need it.

I would suggest Clean Cotton in particular for clean freaks, those who enjoy more comforting homey scents, or anyone with a house that needs to smell better! It would also be a really good scent to burn in a guest room before your guest arrives, so that they think you've had an extra thorough deep clean for their arrival, even if you're only chucked some fresh bedding on!
