I have been aware of yankee candles for sometime but I have never owned one until I was bought one as a present last Christmas. I was interested to see whether it would live up to it's name and if it could justify its price.

The candle had a lovely fresh smell. When lit the fragrance spread around the room and was noticeable but was also delicate and not at all overbearing. I have found that cheaper brands of scented candles do not always have this quality and only smell when you are very close to them. The wax was a white colour so it didn't clash with anything and was nice to look at. Of course they come in a huge variety of other sizes, colours and fragrances as well.

I love the fact that yankee candles come in glass jars as this feels much safer. The flame is more contained and not out in the open so much and much less likely to set fire to anything than standard candles with no container. I don't feel like I have to be constantly watching it all the time in case something happens. And when the candle is gone, the jar is so nice you can wash it out and use it as a container for other things.

I had a medium sized candle and was very impressed with the amount of time it lasted. The manufacturer says this size can last up to 90 hours burning and this seems about right. The medium ones cost around £12 to £15 depending on where you get it from, which does seem a bit expensive for a candle but after having had one I would say that it is a good quality product and you do get what you pay for so it is worthwhile treating yourself. My birthday is coming up soon and I know what's going on my list!
