Yankee Candle Coastal Waters Wax Tart
Advantages: Really like the fragrance. Good longevity.
Whenever I am in town I like to treat myself to a couple of Yankee Candle Wax Tarts. Priced at 99p - £1.20 they are ideally priced to give yourself a little treat if you're a candle lover like me and also by buying a wax tart or votive sampler candle, you are able to try out the many scented candles Yankee have to offer without paying out a lot of money for their more expensive glass jars only to find you are not keen on the fragrance.
Just lately I have managed to grab a few bargain priced wax tarts in the sale at Clintons, but have still purchased a couple of full-price tarts also, as I can't resist if I really like the smell.
Indeed this is what led me to buy a Coastal Waters wax tart recently. You can smell the fragrance of Yankee's wax tarts through their clear cellophane wrapping and I happened to pick this one up as I had never seen it before, whilst buying a few in the sale at Clintons. Although Coastal Waters was not reduced, the fragrance appealed to me so much I had to purchase one.
Yankee state the 'Coastal Waters' fragrance is "Clean and bracing. . . the rush of cool ocean spray from the breaking surf clears the mind and refreshes the soul"
This, coupled with the scenic photograph on the label of a rocky shore and gentle breaking waves and also the blue coloured wax, does indeed match the name perfectly. The fragrance however, I find more difficult to describe and although I would say it is what I would describe as a 'marine' or 'fresh' scent, it is hard to pick out any individual distinctive notes. The fragrance is quite strong and also seems a little synthetic, but it is one I really liked as I held it to my nose in the shop and when I came to use it I was not disappointed. I do think it has some musky notes which always goes down well with me as I love musk fragrances.
These wax tarts can also be used to fragrance drawers and cupboards as an alternative to burning them.
I chose to burn mine and after placing it in my oil burner and lighting a tealight underneath, it only took around four or five minutes for the wax to melt and then the scent began to fill the room.
You must use a burner with a well deep enough to hold the tart, unless you break it up into smaller pieces. Yankee also suggest mixing this tart with others to create a unique scent and this is something I do keep meaning to try sometime.
Yankee state you can expect to achieve up to eight hours burn time from a wax tart before the fragrance is lost and whilst I have experienced some wax tarts which have fell short of this time, it doesn't happen very often and 'Coastal Waters' is one that I am pleased to say slightly exceeded the eight hours. Indeed I found I had around nine hours of fragrance from this wax tart before the fragrance disappeared altogether and it filled the downstairs of my house with its fragrance. I did find the fragrance, although strong at first, did seem to weaken faster than some tarts I have experienced, but as the scent was still evident albeit in a weaker form for the 8 hours stated by Yankee, I cannot complain. I also found the fragrance lingered in the air for some time after exinguishing the tealight underneath.
There have been some fragrances which have filled the entire house with the their throw and indeed some have still been evident the next day. Whilst I did not experience this with Coastal Waters, I was still happy with the fragrance release from this one and would buy it again. In terms of fragrance and longevity it certainly is value for money.
Yankee wax tarts are available to buy from branches of Clinton Cards and Collectables as well as other card and gift shops, or you can purchase from online Yankee stockists as well as Amazon.
