Yankee Candle specialise in various scented candle and home fragrance goodies.

~Early Sunrise~

Early Sunrise is one of the scents available from Yankee. It is available in various forms including candle jars, tealights and votive samplers. The cheapest way to experience Early Sunrise is in the form of a wax tart. For those who haven't read my previous reviews, it is worth mentioning that a wax tart is a piece of wax which is infused with essential oils. It should be placed into an oil burner with a tealight underneath and as it melts, it will release its scent into the air. Each tart should offer at least 8 hours of fragrance.

Early Sunrise is part of the "Fresh" category of scents available from Yankee Candle. It claims to be capture "a new day" and contains a citrus lemon scent blended with ginger and tea.

~Price~

This small wax tart is available online and through local stores. It will be priced around £1.00. The votives are around £1.60 whilst jars start from around £7.00. www.yankeedoodle.co.uk, www.yankeecandle.co.uk and Amazon stock this scent.

~My Thoughts~

I love Yankee Candles and want to try every scent they offer so expect lots more reviews! I used to purchase only the votives but have since moved on to slightly favour the wax tarts as the scent is generally stronger with many of the scents. I first became away of Early Sunrise when I purchased it on sale in votive form. I then received the tart from another Yankee lover who reviews them on here too. I decided to offload the votive to my sister and kept the tart for my own pleasure!

Throughout today, I have been burning this tart on and off. This tart is a gorgeous, calm blue shade and has an equally calming image on the plastic wrapper. Whilst wrapped up, it doesn't offer much scent but naked, it is more noticeable though certainly not the strongest of scents. My nose was deceiving me though as I placed the full tart into my Yankee burner and lit that litte tealight. Little did I know, my home was going to be experience a truly refreshing scent from this piece of wax. It melted quickly into a fragrant pool of gorgeous, light blue wax and looked very pretty.

~What A Beautiful Sunrise~

I suppose the name of the scent alone doesn't give much away. What does a sunrise actually smell like? I can't say I am often up at sunrise but on an overnight boat trip a few years ago, myself and some friends had set our alarms to be up to see that sunrise. It was a memory I couldn't forget and I could distinctly remember a fresh, crisp, unpolluted scent and feel this was captured perfectly in this piece of wax with a few additions of course!

At first, the scent lingered around my living room and began to filter around my home. I started burning this early morning and found it to be the perfect scent to burn whilst doing my housework. It is very clean and fresh and swiftly eliminates any cooking or cleaning product aromas. I have a dodgy smell in my cupboard and at one point, moved my burner into the kitchen and the crisp aroma from Early Sunrise eliminated this smell restoring a natural, fresh aroma to my kitchen.

Early Sunrise is very much a day time scent and is very invigorating and refreshing. I burned it in a few different rooms throughout the day and allowed it to burn for around an hour and a half at any one time. It cleansed each room and each time I walked past the burner, I could feel my spirits and senses being uplifted allowing me to feel happy despite the little sleep I experienced last night.

From a distance, Early Sunrise offers a subtle but lingering freshness with little hints of citrus and is very smooth and enticing. Every time I became close to my burner, the experience changed and a powerful wave of stunning scent greeted me. It is certainly an unusual combination of scents but the lemon, ginger and tea worked incredibly well to produce a tantalising aroma. The lemon becomes more noticeable and is incredibly appealing as its light and sweet and not all chemical smelling. The ginger and tea blend together and linger in the background adding a gentle, slightly spicy and grass like undertone. It really does add a tempting kick to the scent and gives it an edge which I love.

~Keeping My Home Fresh~

This tart is packed full of scent and I have burned it for 8 hours in total today and every time it has solidified, it has kept its scent consistent. I still have a small amount of solid wax left that remains heavily scented. After the tealight had been blown out, the ginger and tea scent began to fade quickly though the lemon freshness lingered in the air for a short while before evaporating.

~Conclusion~

I wasn't sure if I would like Early Sunrise but the crisp, fresh aroma compliments my home and smells absolutely perfect. It is understated compared to many of the scents but it does need to be given more credit. I plan on purchasing a few more tarts to burn on a Saturday morning when I want to have a pretty scent to burn whilst doing my big house clean. The wax tart is very much worth the cost in my opinion.

Thanks for reading :)

PS I originally posted this on ciao on the day I actually burned it around 2weeks ago!

Summary: a beautiful fresh scent for my home
