Yankee Candle Fireside Treats Wax Tart
Advantages: flavoursome, rich, inviting, lasts well, strength
Disadvantages: some may find it too sickly
'The joys of camp...mesmerized by the fire, singing and laughing while toasting marshmallows to rich, gooey perfection'.
Fireside Treats is a 2013 Yankee Candle release and is available in various formats including housewarmer jars and tealights. The cheapest way to experience this scent is by purchasing a wax tart.
A wax tart is a disc of solid wax which contains natural extracts. The tart should be melted in an appropriate tart burner and can be reused until the scent completely disappears. Each tart is said to offer at least 8 hours of scent. This particular tart is white in colour and is simply packaged within a clear, plastic wrapper. The label on the front illustrates marshmallows toasting over a fire - yum!
~Where To Buy~
Fireside Treats wax tart can be purchased from your local Yankee Candle supplier. It can also be bought online from www.yankeescents4u.com. Expect to pay around £1.15-£1.25 per tart.
Whilst browsing around a local department store, I spotted a range of Yankee scents that I hadn't tried before. I decided to treat myself and replenish my stock of wax tarts. I was drawn to Fireside Treats because of the tempting marshmallow picture on the label - it looked delicious and I was intrigued. I paid £1.25 for my wax tart but you can pick them up cheaper on eBay if you are willing to purchase quite a few at the same time.
This tart is ideal for melting in the evening in my opinion. I have been melting tarts more frequently in the evening again as the weather has turned quite dull and wet up here. I just love the cosy atmosphere created by this wax tart. I popped the full tart into my electric burner bowl and within 20 minutes or so, the tart was fully melted. I knew I was going to like Fireside Treats from the moment I unwrapped it. It had a delicious sweet scent to it which I couldn't quite place but I loved it.
The strength of this wax tart is quite impressive. With my tart burner placed in the alcove of my living room, the scent filtered perfectly well and a gorgeous sweetness was evident in my hallway and kitchen. I was able to experience the full 'flavour' of this scent in the living room and whilst this scent won't be to everyones tastes due to how sweet it is, I found it to be gorgeous and not at all sickly. It left my home smelling amazing and very welcoming to any visitors as well as eliminating any homely odours. It is rich and inviting.
Fireside Treats filled my home with the most delightful, food-y aroma. This is the closest I will probably get to toasting marshmallows around an open campfire if I am being honest but I have previously toasted marshmallows at home! A warm, heavenly sweetness is evident - mainly a creamy vanilla with a gorgeous sugary, marshmallow undertone. At times, the depth of the scent changes to reflect the 'toasted' aspect of the marshmallows - a slight warm, burnt undertone which gives the scent a very authentic feel. I was very impressed by how well Yankee Candle captured this scent and was pleased that it didn't appear too sickly sweet. I found myself licking my lips at the moreish aroma that filled the air.
Fireside Treats appeals greatly to me as I love sweet aromas. It is well layered and the different sweet notes have been selected well. If you aren't keen on the smell of vanilla, you are unlikely to appreciate this one. I melted this tart for a few hours at a time over a few evenings and found that the main body of scent lasted around 10 hours with a faint sweetness being evident for a short while after this time. I was pleased that the sweet aroma remained in the air in my living room for a good 30 minutes after turning my tart burner off. For £1.25, this tart is very much a treat and I would highly recommend this scent. It is warm and succulent - perfect for cold Autumn or Winter evenings.
