Yankee Candle Fruit Salad
Advantages: fruity, uplifting scent, long burn time
Fruit Salad is perhaps one of my favourite Yankee Candle fragrances and a repeat purchase for me. Most of my favourite fragrances tend to be the fruit based ones, so I don't think it's any surprise that I adore this one, as it is a medley of fruit scents. The official description is 'a mix of juicy, sun-rich melons, berries and citrus.'
==Wax Tarts and other formats==
I prefer to buy my Yankee Candles in the form of wax tarts. For those not familiar with wax tarts, the best way to describe them would be as fluted discs of wax. They don't have a wick and so are melted in a tart burner under the flame of a tealight and are similar to an oil burner. You can buy these from £5 from Yankee Candle.
The reasons I prefer to use the tarts are firstly that they are cheaper and so I can afford to try a large range of scents. Also you can break them into pieces and mix and match with other scents to create your own unique fragrance. They have an eight hour burn time, but are re-usable so if you don't want to melt for eight hours straight you can re-melt them at a later date.
Other formats that Fruit Salad is available in, include scented tea lights, votives (a.k.a. sampler candles), glass filled tumblers and glass filled housewarmer jars, which come in three different sizes.
==My Experience of using Fruit Salad==
Fruit Salad is a sunny yellow colour with a sticker depicting fruit threaded onto skewers. The smell is a very fresh fruity scent, with the mango being quite dominant. I can also smell what I think is raspberry in there and the scent has a certain tang to it, which makes it smell uplifting and summery. It is not hugely different to another favourite of mine, the Tropical Fruit fragrance, however I would say that this one is Tropical Fruit's tangier, zestier sister.
When burning this candle, the scent fills my whole sitting room, although the scent doesn't really travel so I don't find that I can smell it in neighbouring rooms. The fragrance is just absolutely stunning. My fiancé describes it as being like those little Fruit Salad chews you used to get in mix ups, which I think is probably fairly accurate. I find it really uplifting a summery - a great way to perk up a miserable day!
The intensity of the scent is just right in my view. I can clearly smell the fragrance of the wax tart whilst it's melting, however it's not one of those fragrances that overpowers you.
Each wax tart is designed to last for eight hours. I am currently using tea lights which last for around four hours each. I find that by the time the second tea light has gone out the tart has lost the majority of its scent, making the eight hour estimate accurate in my experience.
I buy my Yankee Candles from either Collectables, Clintons Cards or occasionally Boundary Mill. You can also buy online from www.yankeedoodle.co.uk. The following list of prices and burn times is approximate and will vary....
Wax Tarts - Burn time 8 hours - £1.10
Votives - Burn time up to 15 hours - £1.60
Small Jar - Burn time 25-40 hours - £7.45
Medium Jar - Burn time 65-60 hours - £15.45
Large Jar - Burn time 110-150 hours - £18.45
If you like fruity scents, Fruit Salad is definitely one you should try. It's fruity, uplifting, zesty, but not too strong or overpowering. Perfect for summer or just to put you in mind of summer, Fruit Salad gets a full five stars from me!
Summary: If you like fruity scents, Fruit Salad is the candle to go for!
