Advantages: Good scents, good as gifts
Disadvantages: Expensive
I got a set of these for a present and will review the specific ones I received rather than concentrating on the whole range and company, which is a bit much for one review!
Firstly - the packaging. The ones I have come in small glass jars with rounded glass lids. This is quite good as it makes them very safe - slap the lid on and no more oxygen can get to the flame and you know it's properly out. Also if it falls on the floor there's no need to worry about chips of wax or burnt wick flying everywhere.
Though I can understand them wanting to advertise their brand name, I don't particularly like the large sticker and logo that come on the front - some people might want to show off, but it personally puts me off using them for any kind of table display.
One of the most important things to note are that these are not soy candles, which are far less pollutive and better both for your own health and the environment. I have also heard they are quite expensive, and depending on the occasion, scentless tea lights may be more convenient.
Again, depending on the kind of look you want to achieve stylistically, the candle colours themselves could potentially be off putting. There are a range of scents and 'corresponding' colours, but the green and the pink are a bit off putting in my opinion, since all my other candles are a creamy colour. I do have a honeysuckle candle though which has a nice scent that's not too overpowering. However, I can only light one at a time because the smells would be overpowering and clash. Again, this reduces the potential for part of a dinner display because the strength of the scent would be too much even if you got a few of the same. Also, depending on the smell, the guests might be put off their food!
Summary: Try one to see what you think first

- 05/07/08 Sorry for the low rating; this is a category for YC in general and you could have proposed the actual size to Dooyoo if you really wanted to. There are few things you could also think about:
For a start the jars are made of Glass aren't they, so is it thin glass or thick insulated glass?
Also the stickers can be peeled off or scrubbed off.
The colours of the candle revert to the scents as you know but if you dont like the colour of the candle, you can actually buy china jar sleeves which are very ornate, collectable, sometimes a limited edition and some can even contemplate your table wear.
I agree with you regarding the prices, but then you are paying for a premium candle which has a lot more scent than any other candle on the UK market.
A bit more research into your gift would be good here. |
