Advantages: Great choice and true to nature smells

Disadvantages: Not very easily available in the UK

This start began with one man: Michael Kittredge who as a child didn't have a gift for his mother at Christmas so melted down his crayons to make one! With the help of 2 school friends Donald MacIver and Susan Obremski Yankee Candles was created and up and running. Over 10 years this team built up the company. Due to ill health Kittredge sold the company in 1993 to a friend who sold it on in 1998 to New York based Forstmann Little who made the company famous.

The company sells a vast array of size's from scented wax tarts, votive candles also called samplers, reed diffusers, Electric Home Fragrance units (scented wall plug-ins), car scents, room sprays and the jars (above photo). They also sell the holders for their products.

Scents in the range are split into 5 catergories and in each range there are many fragrances to choose from (below is a sample):

Festive: Christmas Eve, Gingerbread, Christmas Cookie, Red Apple Wreath, Holiday Home Sweet Home

Food & Spice: Shortbread Cookie, Blueberry Scone, Cinnamon And Sugar, Mulling Spices, Tea & Honey

Fruit: Sweet Strawberry, Juicy Peach, Mango Peach Salsa, Granny Smith, Fruit Smoothie

Floral: Sweet Honeysuckle, Midnight Jasmine, Sweet Violet, Spring Bouquet

Fresh:Amber Glow, Cottage Breeze, Lemon Lavender, Sunwashed Linen, Willow Breeze

Prices range from £1.60 for a sampler, £7.49 for their smallest candle all the way through to £19.99 for the scented reeds.

The burn time depends on which size you go for and how long you choose to burn it for. I find the small jars last me about 15 very relaxing baths; in laymans terms about 15 hrs.

In the UK I buy from www.yankeedoodle.co.uk but there are other online places you can purchase these from. I also think Homebase sell them. At the moment they have a stall in Basingstoke as mentioned in another review of mine.

The woman who has everything will always appreciate a beautiful Yankee Candle. There are dozens and dozens if not in excess of a hundred fragrances to choose from with something for everyone. I particularly love the Cantaloupe and Cucumber collection. It is evocative of lazy summer days by the pool or lounging on a hammock in the Seychelles (not that I have been but this candle helps me dream). I also really love the Fresh Cut Roses as it gives a true Rose garden fragrance and does not smell artificial or sickly. By far I prefer the food based scents which include Creme Brulee and Coconut Bay but for the more traditionalists there are the favourites, ie vanilla. They also excel, in my opinion, in capturing those smells that only exist in nature, like the smell after a thunderstorm and Japanese water gardens.

I love Yankee Candle as much for it's variety as it's essence to capture that smell perfectly.

Summary: Long lasting, great quality candles.

Welcome to Dooyoo. A good start here.

If I was in the market for this I'd like to know some more info such as:

Cost price
Ranges of candles you use - jars, sticks or perhaps something else?
Longevity / burning time
Are the sweet scents too sweet in your experience?

Ad ding info isn't compulsory but you could be informing buyers with more clearer info. If you update your review please message me.
