Advantages: Beautiful fragrances. Long burn times. Look good.

Disadvantages: High price.

I feel it's about time I confessed. They say it's the first step to getting help. Well, here goes. I am addicted to Yankee Candles. Yes, it's true, a full blown addiction. To satisfy this addiction, I purchased 1 large jar candle, 14 (yes, 14!!) voltive candles and 5 well, I'm not sure what they called, but you put them in an oil burner and have a tea light underneath and it melts the wax. Now for those of you in the know about Yankee Candles, you will be thinking, his spent a pretty penny there. Well, I was very lucky. The store I purchased them from was having a half price sale on the candles, as they are no longer selling them and I also work there, so got staff discount. That little bundle cost me just over £17!! That is cheaper than a large jar on it's own at full price.

Now, a rather annoying point I have just discovered while researching to do this review. On the Yankee Candle website, I cannot locate the oil burner things or the voltive candles, so I can only assume they no longer sell these, although I have seen them in stores still. Strange.

As you may have guessed, you can get the candles in a wide range of forms. These are:

Jars - available small, medium and large. The small jar has a burn time of between 24 and 40 hours and is priced at £7.49. The medium jar has a burn time of between 60 and 90 hours and is priced at £14.99. The large jar has a burn time between 110 and 150 hours and is priced at £17.99.
The jars are a nice glass, formed into, well a jar shape, but they do have a slight upper class look to them. As can be seen by the prices, you are best getting either the medium or large jar, as the small jar is expensive and the burn time isn't that much compared with the other 2.

Tumblers - These also come in 3 sizes, being regular, medium and large. The regular tumber has a burn time of between 55 and 70 hours and costs £8.99. The medium tumbler has a burn time of between 55 and 75 hours and costs £11.99. The large tumbler has a burn time of between 110 and 150 hours and costs £17.49. I have never used these before, but going by the burn time and price, I would ignore the regular and medium tumblers and just go for the large tumbler. You can also get a 2 wick tumbler, which is the same as these, but with 2 instead of 1 wicks. The burn time is the same, as is the price.

Tealights - These come in a standard tealight size and come packaged with 12 tealights each. They have a burn time of between 4 and 6 hours and cost £5.99 for the 12, which is pretty reasonable.

Pillars - These only come in small and large sizes. The small pillar has a burn time of up to 65 hours and costs £6.49. The large pillar has a burn time of up to 85 hours and costs £6.99. I haven't seen these before, but going by the picture on the website, they look like normal candles. Going by the burn time and price, I would go for the large.

The burn times on the candles I have used I have found to be pretty accurate ish. I haven't ever lit one and then counted the hours, but when used, they do seem to last for an absolute age and don't seem to go down. That is the main reason I like Yankee. They last a fair while, so for the money, you end up saving in the long run.

Fragrances. I'm not going to list all the fragracnes they do, as there is alot. My personal favourite is Dune Grass. The candle is a nice green colour and actually smells like dune grass. All the fragrances I have ever smelt have smelt exactly like what the fragrance states it is. The names of fragrances aren't silly names either, they are simple names that show what the fragrance is. The only one I have found wierd is Evening Sweet Primrose. I would really like to know what the difference between evening primrose and morning primrose is. Is it asleep in the morning and then the evening comes round and it get's it's seductive smell on to attract those pollen takers out there??

I can't fault Yankee Candles really, maybe slightly high priced, but you are paying for the quality. When lit, they manage to fragrance the home lovely. They even get rid of the smell of dog, which I haven't found any other fragrances get rid of before.

Summary: Get addicted like me.

Well written and you're not the first other man I've read about who loves these candles.

I used to work for YC. The reason they don't stock the items on their website is because they are constantly bringing out ne w scents - what you find on the shelves are previous products. This is why YC have a knack for stopping a scent and then bringing out a "new" scent that smelt suspiciously like the old one but with a different name.

They also have a knack for stopping classic scents completely before bringing them out again - they did that with Baby Powder.

But I really do wish they would bring out Vineyard again, it was totally delicious and reminded me of the American Grape Kool-aid
