Advantages: The food and flower versions are very true to life

Disadvantages: The non food/flower ones don't always smell how you would think

Okay, i'll fess up, i love Yankee candles, especially the foodie ones! My favourite (at the moment) is the Tea and Honey version, and smells, well, like Tea and Honey! This is what i love about Yankee products, the food and flower versions smell exactly how they're meant to, and they smell delicious. The ones that i would recommend you smell before ordering are the ones that tie in with lifestyles/feelings. They are a little more difficult to classify; after all, what would 'midsummers night' actually smell like? This would have different connotations to different people, and when i ordered this particular candle, i hated it. I guess that the wording, and the fantastic visual on the jar all combined to create something that can never really be captured, and this particular scent just didn't work for me sadly.

My advice is this: If you're buying a food or flower scent, they're pretty true to life. If it's something that's difficult to quantify, for example 'Island Spa' then do yourself a favour and don't buy it online, go to a shop and smell it first. Yankee candles aren't cheap, and the 22oz jars retail at around £18 - 20.00 which is alot for something that you don't like the smell of! Most decent garden centres stock a range, and i think Clinton cards do also.

All in all they are fabulous, and they make a fantastic gift!

Summary: A real treat, and very addictive!

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback. General information was included; where to buy them, cost of a large jar, and some information on how they smell, and, more importantly, not to be caught out when buying scents that are difficult to quantify.

This is nicely written but in light of the fact this category is "in general" it would be a bit more helpful if you were to consider including more general information about the candles such as cost, how and where to buy them, varieties on offer (scents, style, sizes) etc.
