==Yankee Candle Island Spa Wax Tart==
My name is newby2 and I am now a Yankee Candle Addict!
This Island Spa literally jumped out to me from the shelves as I was looking to stock up my already overflowing supply of these Yankee Candle wax tarts. Both the colourings of the wax tart and the picture on the front of the product seemed to jump out to me as a lovely choice so of course I added it to my already crammed mitts!
==Price and Availability==
I paid 90 pence for this tart from my local stockist who seems to sell them at the cheapest price I have found (and I do keep looking). The RRP of a single 22 gram tart is £1.10p and the prices do tend to vary from shop to shop so it is well worth looking out for the cheapest price. It seems strange that when I wasn't really into buying these things I didn't seem to notice the shops that were selling them but now I am buying a lot of them it seems that a ton of different places sell them and in the most unlikely of places. I do know as well that Yankee Candles online store will often have a good deal of money off specials which is also worth keeping an eye out for.
==Look and Design==
Like I said it was the overall look of this tart which spurred me on to picking it up the lovely light pastel aqua colour of the tart is a colour which I find really appealing and the little photo on the sticky label positioned on the front shows a lovely turquoise sea and palm trees hanging off an island shore! It looks like my idea of heaven and I was sure the fragrance wasn't going to let me down. The tart has the same flower shaped design that is unique to Yankee Candle and at a little over half an inch thick is a nice little product and perfect for a gift for someone or even a gift for yourself!
On smelling the tart through the thin plastic cellophane wrapping that covers the wax disc I must say that I wasn't as bowled over as I thought I would be as the scent was not as strong as I would have liked it to be. However I thought that this might change as soon as I took off the wrapping and began to melt the tart in the burner. This aspect didn't put me off purchasing the tart and I was looking forward to getting it in the dish.
The use of this tart is no different to any other wax tart and all you need is an oil burner with a large dish and a few tea lights. Because of the 8 hour burn time of the tart I find I go through a good deal of tea lights especially as I get the cheaper thinner tea lights from Poundland which don't have a great burn time and per tart I will probably use half a dozen tea lights if not more!
Like most of the tarts I buy I didn't use the whole tart in one go and cut the plastic wrapper off and sliced a small amount of the tart into my burner. The tart is easy to cut and it seems to crumble slightly when I do cut into it but this is good as it does mean that the wax takes less time to melt in the burner and the scent is quick to be released.
I have to admit that the scent that was lacking through the packaging was slightly stronger when I opened it up and began to burn it but unfortunately it still wasn't as strong as I would have liked it to be. The scent was very sea like and had the cooling aromas of the ocean which is quite fresh and very pleasant. The main scents which make up this tart have got to be citrus ones and the fruity and zesty aromas all work well together. The sweetness of oranges mixed with the scent of lemons gives it a lifting and slightly invigorating fragrance which is very nice and on the whole the fragrance I can't fault. The only downside as far as I can see if the fact that it is way to delicate and not as strong and vibrant as I like these tarts to be. The aroma will just about fill one room but there is no chance of it spreading through my entire flat and filling it with the natural aromas that I so love from Yankee.
==My Overall Opinion==
On the whole I really like the freshness of this particular scent but the fact that it is far too subdued for my liking means that it is not a wax tart that I shall be buying again any time soon. It is such a shame because I think if Yankee were able to grab this scent and quadruple the strength of the scent then this might be somewhere near where I would want it to be. I felt that the more the tart was burnt the less the scent became noticeable and overall it was a too weaker scent for me.
I think for this reason I can only give this Island Spa scent a generous score of 3 out of 5 stars. Like I said I wouldn't buy it again and for that reason I wouldn't recommended it either.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Summary: not one I will buy again
