Advantages: Smells lovely and light and refreshing, fills the house with the scent
Disadvantages: Some may prefer a stronger scent
I have often mentioned in my previous reviews that I am a big fan of the Yankee Candle range. I love having the house smell all fragrant and enjoy trying different ones out. I guess like many things we all have a favourite and for me I prefer the light and refreshing fragrances as opposed to the slightly heavy fragrances. I am a big fan of the Baby powder range and I tend to have a couple of candles across the house. I have recently had one going when I have had a relaxing bath and this fragrance is the Island Spa and here are my thoughts.
I often buy the little wax tarts to begin with and find this is a good way of trying out a fragrance before committing to a slightly larger product. I did this with Island spa and have now invested in the jar sized candle. This will usually cost around the £14.99 and the larger jar will be about £17.99 upwards. This is a quality product that I know works so well so I do not mind spending that little bit extra on it. You also get a good burning time with this and the middle sized jar that I have is estimated to be about 110 hours.
The jar itself is the usual Yankee style, clear glass so you can see the wax candle through it; this one is a blue into green colour. Yankee describe this scent as being a 'revitalising escape of a sunny citrus aroma of juicy mandarin and vibrant lemon verbena' I adore the citrus scents and this is perfect for putting on and lying in the bath and letting my mind wander off to a relaxing sunny climate!
The candle has a label wrapped around its centre and this has the Yankee logo and the name of the candle on it. On the reverse is a warning about using candles and the burning time and instructions for use, you are best to light the candle and allow it to burn until the surface has all tuned to liquid as this is when the fragrance really starts to show.
As I mentioned above, Yankee describe this was a slight citrus blend and I adore this scent! Even my perfumes tend to have the citrus notes in them and after about 20 minutes of burning I really began to smell it. It is a lovely light fragrance but not to light that you cant notice it, it really did fill the room. I have burnt the candle in my lounge and it filled the entire downstairs as well as using it in the bathroom and it really did make me feel relaxed. I think it takes your mind to those warmer climates!
It is not to sweet that it is a sickly sweet fragrance, it is just enough to change the scent of a room and leave the room smelling transformed with this blend. I think it is the lemon that comes across from the fragrance at first followed by the mandarins behind and the two work together really well and complement each other.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this candle, however you maybe someone that prefers it that little bit stronger but for me this is just the right level of scent to fill my rooms with, after blowing the candle out the smell does linger as well so it is definitely worth every penny.
4 out of 5 from me
Thank you for reading
