Yankee Candle Jack Frost
Advantages: price, quality, unusual scent
Disadvantages: availability, not strong at first
Yankee Candle offer a wide range of home fragrance products but specialise in various candles and wax tarts.
Many of the wax tarts are for all year round burning. Yankee Candle offer a range of seasonal scents. A wax tart is a little tart of wax which should be placed into an oil burner. Once a tealight is lit, it will melt the wax and offers 8 hours of essential oil scent.
Jack Frost is one of the scents designed for burning during the Festive Season. It comes in many forms but this review discusses my use of the wax tart. Jack Frost comes individually wrapped and is pure white in colour. It has a little label showing a snowman. The scent is described as being "winter cheer..a playful, invigorating mix of icy cool peppermint and sweet vanilla snow cream".
The festive little tart isn't widely available at the moment but will be back in local stores soon. It can currently be purchased on www.yankeedoodle.co.uk for £1.00.
I love all things Yankee and all things Christmas so it was to be expected that both mixed together would have some impressive results! I usually go for the votive samplers but since purchasing an oil burner, I have stocked up on a few Yankee Candle Wax Tarts. I purchased Jack Frost recently as it was appealing to me due to its Festive nature.
My little tart is well presented though having a look at the actual homewarmer jars, I am enticed to purchase one simply for the delight of having a stunning jar adorned with cute snowmen! I managed to contain myself and was very pleased when this tart came as it looks and smelled amazing. I have melted this one during the day to liven up my home. I like to melt the full tart in my burner for a short while and then allow it to solidify for the next use. I have managed to get just short of 8hours fragrance from this little tart as it does seem to lesser in scent each time I burn it but not by much.
This snowy white tart melts completely within 30mins of the tealight being lit. It melts to a thick and almost clear liquid and looks very pure and natural. The scent in solid form, gives an indication of what to expect as is quite intoxicating. The scent seeps out gradually from my oil burner and starts off very powerful. The scent travels well encouraging freshness through my living room, kitchen and hallway.
The scent lingers and then gradually fades only producing short but strong bursts of scent into the air to allow it to be noticeable but on a subtler level. The scent is absolutely amazing but won't be too everyones tastes. The mint aroma is most prominent and although resembles peppermint at its peak, soon settles to a soft, almost spearmint aroma which is revitalising and ultra refreshing. It offers a clean, airy aroma which really boosts the natural air around my home and opens it up.
Whilst the mint inclusion is very generous and lively, there is the most stunning sweet undertone infused into the tart. It softens the overall mint scent allowing it to be less harsh. The sweetness is subtle and very natural. The vanilla is recognisable in its finest form and evens out the scent. I love the sweet undertone as its gently calming but still allows the scent to be fun and welcoming.

I burned the tealight for an hour or so at a time and allowed the cooling scent to transform my home into a winter wonderland. Once the tealight was blown out, the scent lingered but started to disappear quite quickly and soon solidified in a block of white wax again. The next time I used it, I noticed the mint wasn't quite as strong and the scent had reduced but still remained appealing.
Jack Frost is a cracking scent which offers a minty fresh yet sweet aroma to my home. It isn't your average type of candle smell and is certainly different from many I have tried in the past. It is a high quality, natural scent which is ideal for day time use as its a bit cold for night time in my opinion. I plan on purchasing the jar of Jack Frost as I loved the mint/sweet combination so much. The burning time and scent make the cost of the tart so worth it.
I highly recommend this scent and thank you for reading :)
