Damn you dooyoo! Before I started reading and writing reviews on here I had never really paid attention to Yankee Candle and thought they were overpriced candles and generally avoided the displays. However on dooyoo there appears to be quite the following of the yankee candle tarts/candles and I eventually caved in and bought a candle last Christmas and boy was it the start of something.
I am reviewing the Warm Spice Classic medium jar candle which was part of the 2012 summer collection and normally retails at £16.99 but I managed to pick it up from a gift shop called 'Spoilt for choice' for £12.49 as it was the candle of the month two months ago. The candle is said to burn for anything between 65-90 hours and I can say after about 60 hours of burning I still have about a 1/3 left so am very pleased with the burn time. I generally tend to burn this candle for about an hour or so at a time and have found that the scent has a fantastic durability and throw so much so that I can still smell the scent the following morning and it spreads throughout the livingroom, kitchen and hall too. The scent of this candle is obviously based on Yogi Yogi Chai tea and has a lovely creamy spicy aroma which isn't so strong that it could cause a headache (e.g. Cinnamon Stick which was too strong for me). The vanilla is quite well balanced with the cinnamon, clove, coriander seed and star anise so it's very smooth and comforting especially if you've just arrived home soaking wet and cold.
The candle itself is contained within a glass jar with a matching lid and the candle has one wick which burns evenly though the centre without ending up with large portions of wax being left on the outside (unlike the glade candles). The only piece of advice I would give is to trim the wick every now and again ensuring that it is no longer than 1/4 of an inch so you don't end up with a smokey candle and to wipe the top of the jar with some damp tissue as you do sometimes end up with a black ring across the top of the jar.
Obviously it goes without saying that you should ensure that the candle is placed on a heatproof mat out of the way of children, pets, flammable textiles/materials and even though this is obvious candles are still high up there as a major cause of fire in households as well as burns on children and animals.
Summary: A lovely luxury candle for those autumnal evenings
