~ Yankee Candle Lemon Lavender ~
First of all I have to mention that I never usually go for lavender scents as I have always felt that it is more of an older womans scent, I have fond memories of my Nan's bathroom being filled with posh lavender scented products that I was not allowed to touch! I do however quite like the scent of fresh lavender, whenever I walk past a big bush of lavender I can't resist the urge to rub it between my fingers! But still I never thought I would go for a lavender scented product.
My Nan was bought a large jar of this scent for Christmas by one of my cousins and after having a sniff I didn't really think much of it if I am honest but after reading a few good reviews on this I decided to go ahead and buy a tart even though my Nan had said she wasn't overly impressed with it ... But I think that could just be my Nan being fussy!
I have recently been on a bit of a Yankee Candle splurge and have bought quite a few different scents, I happened to come across this one on ebay and bought it on a buy it now for 90p with a postage price of 45p ... Bargain!
I know what scents I like but I am always open to trying new scents and for me the best way of doing this I find is to buy a tart form of the scents.
I have bought votives in the past and haven't been very impressed with the small amount of scent they give off so I don't bother with them now and if I am unsure as to how the scent will fare I won't buy a jar candle, I think the best and cheapest option is the tarts.
A tart is a simple round piece of highly scented wax with nice fluted edges, there is no wick to burn so it has to be popped into a burner where it will melt into a pool of glistening liquid and give off a strong scent.
I have yet to find a tart that doesn't give off a brilliant amount of scent so I am more than happy with these.
The Lemon Lavender tart is a lilac coloured wax disc, after unwrapping the shrink type plastic wrap you will see the top of the tart is stamped with the Yankee Candle logo. As I have said before I break the tarts in half to use them as I find one half is ample enough to fit in my burner and also gives off hours of scent. A tart will give you 8 hours of fragrance yet I find I can burn one half with two tealights which last for approx 3.5 hours each so I am getting approx 7 hours from one half meaning they last me around 14 hours, which for the low price I think is very fair.
Anyway, I popped the one half into my burner and left it for a short while (5 mins or so) to melt down and straight away I could smell a really lovely scent travelling around my living room, the wax melted from it's solid lilac colour into a pale clear lilac and looked nice.
I went upstairs to the toilet and obviously closed the bathroom door, upon opening it I could smell the Lemon Lavender scent which had traveled upstairs in a short amount of time.
The lemon and lavender compliment each other brilliantly, the lemon adds a sherbety scent whist the lavender gives a nice floral hint.
It really is a gorgeous fresh scent that I will be buying again. For something I didn't think I would like I am so impressed, it's a lovely fresh uplifting scent, that makes the house smell clean and fresh.
Thanks for reading :o) x
Summary: A beautiful fresh scent from Yankee Candle.
