Advantages: Long lasting fragrance for your home

Disadvantages: None for me

I burn scented wax tarts all year round but somehow they always seem that bit more special at Christmas time. One of my favourite fragrances this year has been Yankees Macintosh Spice. I should just say that I'm actually reviewing the Wax Tart in the Mackintosh Spice fragrance.

I bought my wax tarts from Yankee Direct on line. They have large selection of Yankee products on there. The wax tarts are 99p each which is pretty much the going rate. Wax tarts are also known as wax potpourri.

Wax tarts are round flattish discs of wax with a fluted edge, a bit like a mince pie. Each one comes wrapped tightly in cellophane but you can still smell the fragrance through the wrapper. Handy if you are buying them from a high street store. The tarts have a small picture on the front of the wrapping depicting the fragrance within. My Macintosh Spice tart has a picture of lovely red apples along with cinnamon sticks. The fragrance is also written underneath the picture.

The wax is a lovely dark red colour and smells exactly as its supposed to, apple and cinnamon. Gorgeous! I would say the cinnamon is the dominant smell but the fresh fruity apples can still be smelt.
All Yankee wax is made with real ingredients so there's no artificial smell to their candles and tarts.

To use a wax tart you need an oil burner. Yankee do their own but any oil burner can be used. You simply unwrap the tart pop it in your oil burner as it is, never add water, and light a tea light underneath it.

It doesn't take long for the wax to melt and the smell to filter round the room. The Macintosh Spice is a nice warming homely fragrance. Not too overpowering but still strong enough fort the smell to creep round my whole house, upstairs and down.
Yankee claim their tarts will fragrance your home for 8 hours. I cannot say if this is accurate because I never burn mine for that long at any one time. I tend to let the wax melt and once the smell has crept around my home I blow the burner out. I find the smell lingers well after the burner has been out, but I would imagine 8 hours would be correct. Of course you can melt and re melt the wax several times before the smell fades.

I use wax tarts in drawers and cupboards too, wrapped of course. Its lovely to open a cupboard or your wardrobe and have a waft of fragrance puff out. In my opinion wax tarts are a great way to fragrance your home anytime of year. They are not too pricey and they do give a good long lasting fragrance.

The Macintosh Spice is a particularly nice one for the Festive Period, it creates a lovely warm cosy atmosphere, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it any time of year.

Summary: Another excellent Yankee Product
