“ Brand: Yankee Candle / Type: Candles „
I do like my home to smell fresh and clean, and therefore in between my weekly house cleans I will regularly light a fragranced candle to give my home a lift. As someone who loves floral scents, I was very pleased when I received this Yankee Candle Midnight Jasmine candle a few months ago now as a gift. I am rather partial to neutral tones in my home but with purple accents also being our lounge theme, this candle ticked both boxes. As a result when I unwrapped this candle I was keen to try it out.
My candle is presented in a thick glass jar which is transparent allowing the creamy-white of the candle wax to show through. However, you can also purchase the same scent option in smaller candles and wax tarts. On the front of the jar is an illustration of jasmine flowers shown against a purple backdrop and this creates an overall impression of tranquillity in my opinion. It is the jar of this candle that I particularly like. With its rounded design and round lid it looks rather like an old fashioned sweet jar and, like a sweet jar, the lid is lined with a plastic rim allowing the lid to sit firmly inside the base of the jar in between uses. Opening up the lid of my candle for the first time I must admit to loving the fragrance of the candle within. The jasmine notes are noticeable and yet soft and give a floral and sweet scent which is both summery and feminine in my opinion.
Setting up this candle is incredibly easy as it simply requires the lid to be removed and the wick lit. This takes any faffing around with wax tarts and burners out of the mix. The wick, which starts its life a clean white colour, turns black upon ignition with a flame and burns steadily until the candle is blown out. A feature which I like about this candle is that the jar, whilst pretty to look at, is also good from a safety point of view as it ensures that the flames and molten wax are contained inside. This does take the worry out of the process for me as unlike my pillar candles I do not have to worry about hot wax running. In addition, once the flame has been blown out, the lid can simply be pushed back onto the jar which means that:
a. I do not have to wonder whether I have blown the candle out as the lid prevents any oxygen from re-igniting the flame.
b. I do not have to worry about hot wax going everywhere should the jar be knocked.
As a side note, when not in use the jar also looks very attractive stood on my lounge window cill which I another reason to love the design of this candle.
As I own the largest of the jar candles, my candle has a burn time of 110 to 150 hours and I have been burning mine a couple of nights a week for nearly 4 months now and still have around a third of the candle left which means that it lasts for a good amount of time in my opinion. In addition, the wax seems to burn down at a rate which roughly matches that of the wick thus preventing the wick becoming buried in a deep mound of wax around the edges. It is the quality of Yankee Candles that I love and is the reason why I keep going back to them. This candle smells true to its namesake and provides a fresh burst of scent within minutes of lighting which seeps through our flat and creates a lovely ambience which lingers for a good couple of hours once the flame has been blown out.
Overall I am very pleased with this candle, as not only do I love the smell of it but also the fact that it looks so nice in my lounge. The jar is so lovely that I plan to re-use it when the wax does eventually run out. The only give away that it is made by Yankee Candle being the 'Yankee' logo which is imprinted into the glass lid.
It is important to me to look at price as I am regularly on the look out for a good bargain. This candle is currently available on the Yankee website for £19.99 although it can be purchased more economically from such sites as Amazon. It is my belief that £19.99 is still a very good price for such a quality candle and considering that you have the glass jar to keep once the wax has gone you always have a nice little storage jar when the scent has run out.
As a result of the above, I have to say that this is one of my favourite Yankee fragrances and one which I would recommend. Consequently this candle scores an excellent five stars from me.
I hope this review has been of some help and thanks for reading!
