Advantages: Beautiful, sexy scent.
I like to burn candles around the house and do so because I enjoy their scent as well as to reduce any bad odours. My favourite candle brand is unrivalled and is Yankee because they make so many different unique varieties inspired by authentic aromas from around the world. They also provide candles suitable for different areas of the home. On a recent trip to my local garden centre I picked up a couple of these Midnight Jasmine candles. They were reduced as they did not seem to be a popular choice but having now experienced them I can't think why anyone would bypass this one!
I always buy Yankee candles in their small Votive or Sampler size. You can get them in a variety of sizes though including ones in glass jars or pillar shaped and you can also get a tiny biscuit sized wax tart. I like the Votive candles because they are the perfect size to fit on my shelves. I also have many candle holders which accomodate these 2 inch tall candles. The base of the candle is about 3 1/2 centimetres in diameter. The top of the candle is about 4 1/2 centimetres in diameter. The Votive candles come wrapped in plastic which is printed with an illustration which represents the fragrance. On this candle there is a picture of purple and white flowers which I assume are Jasmine. They look slightly hazy as though seen by twilight. The only other information on the wrapper is a safety label on the bottom which gives basic picture instructions on how to use the candle.
The Midnight Jasmine candle is snow white in colour so it looks good with any colour decor. The wax becomes a little more translucent when melted. Yankee describe the scent of this candle as "seductively lush" with elements of "water jasmine, sweet honeysuckle, neroli, and mandarin blossom" coming into play. To me the candle is one of the most sensual and sexy that I've come across in the Yankee range. The scent is very heady, rich and tinged with darkness. There are nectar sweet undertones that seem to tease the senses whilst an overpowering calla lily poison burns away in the top notes. It's a fragrance from a secret Heavenly garden that can only be found by moonlight and I think the 'Midnight Jasmine' moniker is perfect. When I smell this candle I feel overwhelmed by feelings of spiritual joy and dreaminess. It's a beautiful, strong and daring fragrance that I would actually love to bottle and wear as a perfume!
Due to the exotic nature of the scent I prefer to burn this in the bedroom although it is also suitable for a living room especially if you want to cover up any nasty odours. The candle scent is far reaching and capable of masking bad smells across several rooms. It's a fragrance that is noticable when you walk into the room.
I absolutely love the fragrance of the Midnight Jasmine candle and love the fact that these little burners last for up to 15 hours. They provide a lovely atmosphere in my home by looking lovely but more importantly by smelling divine. I would certainly buy this variety again and recommend it to Yankee devotees and to new customers alike.
Prices vary depending on where you buy these but mine was £1.19 reduced from £1.59 and was well worth the money.
Yankee have a UK website where you can read about the brand, find information about the candle ranges and buy online:
