The Pacific Coconut candle is the latest addition to my Yankee Candle collection. I actually ended up with this candle by accident really. I'd ordered a different one but it got lost in the post, so the company I'd bought from asked if I wanted to try this one instead as a replacement because they had run out of the original fragrance I'd ordered. I hadn't realised that Yankee Candle did a coconut scented candle, but I jumped at the chance, because I absolutely adore the smell of coconut. There's something so fresh and lovely about it, and it always reminds me of summer. This particular candle is from the World Journey's range, which includes scents such as Canary Island Banana, French Lavender and Malaysian Palm amongst many others. Unlike the main range of Yankee Candles which traditionally are packaged in heavy glass jars, this candle and the others from the World Journey's range only come in lidded glass tumblers. Personally I think the tumblers look nicer than the house warmer jars. They are a cleaner shape and I find that there design fits in well with the modern décor of my flat, whereas the house warmers can sometimes look a little bit old fashioned, and I struggle to find places where they look 'right'. The jars have silver lids, and these double up as a candle plate, so you can turn the lid upside down, place your burning candle on it and the heat won't damage your surfaces which is a handy but simple feature. Other than the silver lid this candle looks quite plain given that the wax is white. The scent of this candle is absolutely gorgeous. I adore the scent of coconut and as I have come to expect from the Yankee Candle brand, this smells very authentic and not as synthetic as some coconut scented products can tend to be. It's a very sweet fragrance, and silly as this sounds it smells creamy. I don't know how that's possible, it just does! I think what surprised me the most about this particular candle is that the scent is not quite as strong as I expected. The majority of Yankee Candles have very strong and intense fragrances, but this is actually fairly subtle in comparison. At first I was a little bit disappointed with this, but now after having owned and used the candle for a while, I actually think it's a good thing... For a start it's not sickly. Some of the Yankee Candles I have found can become a little sickly after some time, but as the intensity is not quite so strong with this it doesn't have that effect. Secondly, sometimes there are times when you don't want a really strong scent wafting around you just want a subtle fragrance to make your home smell fresh, and that's exactly what you get with this. Although not quite as intense as I had expected, the coconut scent is definitely noticeable in the air, and in fact when burning this in my living room last Monday daytime, I walked in from work on Tuesday afternoon and the scent of coconut was still evident in the room, so the fragrance does last. The candle is available in three different sizes: Small - £7.99 Medium - £12.99 Large - £14.99 Buy from www.yankeedoodle.co.uk I have been unable to find the approximate burn times for these candles, but I would expect that they are similar to the burn times of the house warmer jars. I only have the small candle and I tend to burn it 3+ hours a time and it's barely worn down so you do get a lot of uses out of these. Overall, I am very pleased with this candle. If you like a very strong intense fragrance from your candles then perhaps this one is not for you, but if you're looking for a subtle background scent that will transport your mind to a tropical island for a while, I'd recommend giving this a try!
