Advantages: Pretty, easy to use, good price, goes with everything
Disadvantages: None
For years I'd been seeing Yankee candles and accessories on QVC and heard people raving about them, but I've always been put off by the prices. I decided to buy one of the littlest candles just to see what all the fuss was about. It was only when I took the wrapper off that I found it had no wick and learnt that it was actually a wax tart.
Fast forward a month and I've got around to buying this tart burner. It cost me £5.95 from Amazon which I think is a really good price for a genuine Yankee burner. I was a bit worried it could break in the post as I'd previously only seen very fragile looking ones, but it's actually a lot sturdier than you'd imagine from looking at it. The black base part is made of what I'd guess is coated metal and this holds the top piece which is a thick ceramic bowl in the shape of an open flower. The top piece has a slight rim underneath it that ensures it sits in place in the holder. The whole thing looks really nice, and as it's an off white/creamy colour it will go with whatever room I feel like putting it in.
Using the burner:
It really is easy to use, you simply pop the wax tart in the top bowl and light a tea light underneath, after a few minute you start to see that the wax is melting and making a pool.
The burner came with some general instructions about how to use it, things such as that you should put it on a heatproof surface, and only use unscented Yankee tea lights underneath it. I've found that it doesn't actually get that hot underneath, and as for the tea lights, I only had common or garden ones and I don't see that it makes a difference! To be honest, the instructions were pretty much common sense. It says not to use sharp implements to remove your melted wax from the burner and advises you to put it in the freezer if you have trouble removing it. I find that if you let the wax cool completely then it will pop out easily using your fingers. This is great as it means you can have different tarts on the go at the same time (If one should be inclined!).
Summary
I'm really pleased with it and have already been out buying more tarts to use. It would make a really nice present and is well finished and substantial. I having nothing but good things to say about it.
Summary: A lovely wax tart burner!
