I generally always like to have a candle burning in my living room on an evening. I lead a very hectic life and when I can finally tear myself away from either my horses or my office I like to sit down once the little person has gone to bed and unwind and I generally find that a burning candle is incredibly relaxing. My usual candles of choice are normally Yankee as I like to experiment with the different varieties they come in.

The last few days I had been burning a sampler of my latest Yankee order which was the Pink Dragonfruit scent. I opted for this sampler purely because I was intrigued by the smell as although I know dragonfruit has quite a sweet taste I was unsure how the candle could bring this across. However, since buying it I have read a few reviews and most of which are quite positive so I had hoped I'd really like it.

My Yankee Pink Dragonfruit candle is a sampler and just like all the other samplers it comes already wrapped in a clear plastic wrapping which almost seems vacuum packed. There is the gold Yankee label featuring the Yankee logo together an image of a whole pink dragonfruit together with a dragonfruit cut in half so you can its speckled flesh. The candle itself is a beautiful rich, deep pink colour which obviously suits the name of the candle!

You can easily smell the scent of the candle albeit a little subtle through the clear plastic wrapping but once you unwrap the sampler that's when you can obviously really notice the fragrance. Now I don't know what to expect with this fragrance whether it would be sweet or not and I was incredibly surprised when although I find the aroma quite sweet it wasn't a sickly sweet fruity aroma it was a lot deeper in smell almost with a spicy undertone which complimented the sweetness nicely.

A sampler candle has a burning time of around 15 hours and I found that within about an hour of lighting the Yankee Pink Dragonfruit sampler that the aroma started to appear and gradually got slightly stronger as the time passed. The richness of the sweet notes and almost the spicy undertones really do work together and produce a lovely warm and deep fragrance which was able to fill my living room without any issues.

The fragrance is absolutely wonderful and although it is quite deep and rich it doesn't take over the room, it is by no means an intense overpowering smell instead it manages to give a lovely warming fragrance with a sweet note. I'm not normally the biggest fan of sweet fragrances or more fruity sweet fragrances but this is wonderful I really was quite surprised given that the scent of pink dragonfruit wasn't something I was familiar with so I had no idea what this candle would smell of.

This is definitely a candle that I could easily have in a larger size as I really don't think I would get bored of the scent. If you haven't tried it already then I would definitely recommend it as it is absolutely gorgeous and especially suited to those cold nights which seem to be drawing ever closer! 5 stars from me.
