Yankee Candle Red Berry & Cedar
Advantages: Looks nice, lasts for hours, cheap
Disadvantages: Can get messy as the candle comes to an end, sometimes the fragrance was too strong
After trying 2 of the regular tumblers from the Yankee Candle range I requested a couple as presents for Christmas as I wanted to try out some more scents. I was given 3 of the small votives from the Christmas range which included the Red Berry and Cedar. Although I love the tumblers for the look and longevity I do quite like the votives as it gives you a chance to cheaply test out some of the fragrances.
The Yankee Candle idea began in 1969 when a young Mike Kittredge melted down some crayons to make his mother a Christmas Candle. The Candle was so impressive a neighbour asked to buy the candle, so Mike Kittredge agreed and made another. From then on the Yankee Candle has become synonymous in the fragrance candle market and now has over 150 fragrances to its name.
The Yankee Candle range has 4 main candle types:-
Presentation and Price
The Votive for the Red Berry and Cedar is wrapped in cellophane to keep the candle from losing its fragrance. On the front it has an image of a spray of rd berries against some foliage. It is a simple design but still looked nice and doesn't look cheap. I would recommend popping the jar on a small plate or in a candle holder to catch any drips as it burns. The votives are usually priced at around £2 from outlets such as Amazon and eBay which makes them very affordable.
The votives are 49g and have a burning time of 15 hours. And they really will burn for 15 hours despite their size which is deceiving. The Red Berry and Cedar is advertised as "Welcome the season with the delicious holiday aroma of tart red currants and warm cedarwood" and says it will relive you favourite memories.
When you light the votive you begin to instantly smell the cider aroma first then this is closely followed by the fragrance of red berrie in particular, red currents. It is a deep rich fragrance that seems to emit in waves every so often. Surprisingly for such a small candle it soon fills your room with the fragrance of Christmas. I hadn't tried a votive before so due to its small size I wasn't expecting the same depth of fragrance as the tumblers give but I often found the fragrance too strong. I can't say it reminds me of Christmas but is nice anyway.
